Hi Lori, I can relate! We had surgery close in time. I started at 351 and have lost about 120 at this point - was hoping for 150-200 by my 1 year but I don't see that happening at this point. I have another 60 or so to go, and man, it seems overwhelming sometimes, especially since the weight loss is slowing considerably. On sugar, at first I didn't think it made me dump because a bite or two of sweets never seemed to bother me at all. However, I learned that more than a few bites will definitely make me dump! This has helped me avoid eating too much sugar at once, but it definitely calls to me at times. AND! I can so relate about how easy it seems to eat carbs as opposed to protein! Sometimes it seems like I have to choke down all of my 3 oz portion of protein, adn I can't always fini**** But put something sweet in front of me, or even bread or potatoes, and I guarantee you I can find some room for that! I have no idea why that is. All that said, 107 pounds is a heckuva lotta weight! If your excess weight was 150 pounds, you have lost over 2/3 of it in your first year post-op, and I think that's great! I'm in about the same place percentage wise, and I am counting on my tool continuing to help me lose the rest, even if it is S L O W. I keep trying to remind myself that 200 pounds WAS overwhelming, and in that perspective, the remaining 60 doesn't look quite so hard. Hang in there! Kathy

That sounds so cool! Thats me, I am waiting till after plastics cause I don't want it messed up. I love the idea of writing the surgery date in there. I feel the same about how the phoenix is strong and to me it says alot about my journey and how far I have come...I hadn't thought of the surgery date though, cool idea.. Hugs Angela

I'm getting a phoenix in a couple weeks. I thought the butterfly was too cliche and cutsie. The phoenix is such a strong symbol that I thought it was a much more appropriate representation of the re-birth we go through with WLS. Mine will be about 5-6 inches across between my shoulders at the base of my neck. And I'm thinking about a dragon, because everyone knows that dragons and phoenix go together, on my lower back. I'll wait until after plastics for that one cause I'm considering the total body lift and I wouldn't want it to get messed up. I'm so excited I can't wait. I'm having my surgery date in the ashes portion of the tat.

Topic: BMI - Overweight and not obese
So the scale moved again. I'm at 205 and thus the BMI now says I'm at 29.4 which is considered overweight and not OBESE. I can't remember when I've ever just been overweight. I'm so excited. So to celebrate, I went and bought 3 new outfits at lunch (caught 2 of them on clearance for $7 bucks a piece). Onederland is in my sights. Sandy 357/205/165

I am going to do the same thing. I already have 4 tattoos, but I do want one more. One on my chest and the others are on my ankles. My favorite is my wrap around...kinda like an anklet. I am getting a vine going across my lower back with some flowers and butterflies. The butterfly to me is the sign of new life. Spiritually as well as physically. Not sure when I will be getting it, I am thinking this summer when I hit Va Beach ...I cant wait though! Keep us posted!! ((hugs)) Tara
