Topic: RE: How much can you eat?
Pam,
Everyone is different as to the amount they can eat. I personally wouldn't be able to eat a whole bagel..not because I can't eat the quanitity, but I don't tolerate bread well. I guess if you are hungry often, then you should try to eat things lower in calories that will fill you up especially if the surgery has stopped working for you. Try eating vegetables or fruit. You have complete control to eat the things you should and shouldn't. You just have to make sure to have the right foods on hand to keep yourself in check. I still have to keep track of everything I eat and believe me some days i feel like I can eat a lot and other days not so much. But I do keep track of all my calories because I am still trying to lose weight. I wish you luck.

I am now over 1 year post op. My starting weight was 297 I am now down to 190. I have platued since December. My surgin said I probably am done losing. I went to a plastic surgin and he said I was ready for ps. Now my concern. I think I eat to much. I am having a really hard time controling what I am eating. I tolerate everything. I have noooo problems. I wanted to have problems tolerating stuff so I won't eat things I shouldn't. How much at one sitting can you eat. I can eat a whole bagel. Then what shocked me was an hour later I was stupid and tried another one and I still wasn't stuffed. I am scarde I haven't gained any weight yet but I haven't lost any either. Please let me know how much we should be able to eat now being 1 year post op..

Absolutely pay it forward, Betty Jo!
1. Could you imagine at the time last year you would be where you are now?
Absolutely! I never doubted it!
2. What was greatest positive moment this year?
Getting my annual physical and finding out my blood pressure, my cholestrol, all of my numbers were NORMAL.
negative moment.
Unrelated. My mother died in June. BUT, instead of doing what I always do (eat myself into a stupor), I stayed focused and continued to lose weight.
3. When didyou know you would be successful?
The moment I woke up from the surgery.
4. What became your favorite food?
Edy's Fat Free Sugar Free Ice Cream (Butter Pecan)
5. How did you set your weight loss goal? Did you reach it.
My first goal (178) has turned out to be unrealistic. I decided that, so long as I was under 200 lbs, I'd be happy. I'm at 191 and I've set the more realistic goal of 185. I'll reach it. It'll be slow from here and I'll have to work for those last six lbs, but I'll reach it.

1. Could you imagine at the time last year you would be where you are now?
No way at all did I believe that I would be at goal and maintaining. Wearing a size small or 6-8. It has been an amazing journey.
2. What was greatest positive moment this year? negative movement.
Most positive I guess would be reaching goal and having maintained that goal for 3 months. It is a one day at a time journey for me.
Negative ~ The vaginal prolapse and the surgery that entailed and the loss of friends simply because I became a smaller person.
3. When did you know you would be successful?
From day 1. I refused to let failure be an option. I still refuse to consider failure. I may slip back and make bad choices but will use this amazing tool and be a continued success
4. What became your favorite food?
Cheese, jerky, vietnamese foods, sushi
5. How did you set your weight loss goal? Did you reach it
I picked my goal with my doctors assistance and then also by a feel and how I looked. Originally was 155 but am maintaining at 160 - 165 to allow for plastics that I want to have.
Best wishes on your journey,
Jeannie

One year ago today.....
I can't believe it has been a year already.
I have lost 89 pounds this past year. I am very happy for that loss, but also disappointed that I didn't lose more. I am 26 pounds away from my PCP's goal and 32 pounds away from my surgeon's goal.
I have been a real slow loser and these past few months I have been really struggling to keep from gaining. I have been struggling with the FOOD DEMONS for a few months now. I think I am back on track though. At least the last couple of days I have been doing really well.
I know only I can control this FOOD DEMON who lives within me. I must be stronger than it... and I am really trying hard to stay in control.
A year ago today I was wearing size 24/26 jeans, 3X T-shirts. Most of my shirts I was buying in the men's department. Today I am wearing 10-12-14 misses jeans depending on style, and misses lg-xlg tops. I am very pleased with that.
I only had a few problems in the last year with food getting stuck, and that can be very painful. I have had an ongoing problem with constipation and I am trying various methods to relieve that.. I do not dump and I sooooo wish I did because I am a choc-a-holic. And my husband wants me to let you know that I have become a shop-a-holic now too!
Now on that note we are on our way to Kohl's early bird sale.
Good luck to all on your weight loss journey.

I wish you luck with your surgery! Being thinner doesn't solve all a person's problems, but I am glad to cross "morbidly obese" off my problem list.
1. Could you imagine at the time last year you would be where you are now? No, I couldn't imagine losing past 250. I was sure that I would be a failure, because I had failed every time in the past.
2. What was greatest positive moment this year? The day that I tried on a size 12 and it fit. I could no longer shop at the "big women stores"
negative moment? When I realized that there are some people that are still waiting for me to fail. And when I lost my best friend because she was upset that I going to lose weight and be as thin or thinner than her. I was shocked and very hurt. Still am.
3. When did you know you would be successful? Good grief, I am still not completely sure.
4. What became your favorite food? Egg white omletes with green and red bell peppers and fat free cheese. I would never have believed that a year ago.
5. How did you set your weight loss goal? I didn't have a goal weight because I couldn't imagine losing more than 30 or 40 pounds.
Did you reach it? These days, I would like to weigh just enough to not be considered overweight on the BMI charts. I need to lose 5 more pounds for that to happen. I think that I look pretty good at this weight, tho, and wouldn't mind if I stayed here.

Topic: RE: Update on my plateaus and eating more/exercising less
You know, corgimom, I have to say that my exercise addiction has really fueled itself. I did start out with a personal trainer and wanting to exercise more, but the more I did it, the more I wanted to do it. I think it might be excessive at this point, but the truth is my body and my mind feel SO much better when I exercise alot that those feelings alone make it worthwhile. But, like anything with me, it seems to be I either go overboard or I don't do it at all. That's sure how it was with eating. I'm not one for happy moderation in many things, and I seem to kind of have gone off the deep end of the exercise pool. but at least that's a healthier addiction!
I'm currently on a mental health vacation from the gym and also from being completely anal and obsessive about everything I eat. I'll go back to the gym and my routine either sunday afternoon or Monday n ight. Until then, my only exercise will be walking the dog 2 miles at night after work, and4-6 miles on weekends. I am going to eat what I want when I get hungry, so long as I get my protein in. Other than that, I'm going to relax a bit. With my luck this will make me finally lose weight!
In any event, thank you for your support. I hope you find something exercise-wise that makes you feel great. When I went on a site to calculate how many calories I need just to sit around all day, that amount was 1850 a day. With the exercise I do, it went up to almost 3000 a day. No way I could hold that many calories. I thought I was doing well at 1000 a day, but everyone thinks I should increase the calories so I guess I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for teh post. I'll let you know how it goes! And good luck to you as well!
