Terri, You have certainly had a tough month. I am so glad that you are starting to feel better. It's scary to realize that we can still have serious problems so far from our surgery date. I hope that you continue to feel better each day. Becky

Thanks to all of you for your support. I breezed through the surgery with only a little temperature as a bump in the road that kept me in the hospital an extra day. The doctors are very optimistic they got everything but we'll know for sure by Wednesday. I've decided that hospitals should have a dietary option for people who are post GBS surgery, since there are so many of us now. In order to have the appropriate choices, I was put on a "No Concentrated Sweets" diet. Since that's usually used for diabetics, I kept getting meals at weird times, snacks I can't eat, and things I DID ask for not given to me, since I already had too many carbs on my tray. I think I will try to work with the Dietary department of our hospital and see if I can get that changed.

Topic: Gallbladder woes
Hi All, I thought I was all recovered from the lap gallbladder removal on March 16th. Well don't you know I awoke with severe abdominal pain on March 26th. THhey were not sure what it was, but related to the gallbladder, either a bile leak, an abcess, or stone in the duct. Treated for all 3 for a week. Nothing to eat except clear liquids. Sent home for two days and don't you know awakened with same pain. Back to direct admission at the hospital. This time they decided it was a bile leak. I had 2 drains placed and over 5 liters of bile drained from my abdominal cavity. No eating again. PICC line, TPN. The whole works. Not to mention the pain. WOW!!!!!!!!! Finally home after about a month in the hospital. Trying to get my strength back. My iron went soooo low, I had to have it in the IV. Also, potassium went so very low. Had palpitations from it. The ironic thing is the surgeon had that gallbladder in his hand last year during the Roux n Y. And the bile leak could have been fixed easily with a stent if they could have done an ERCP. But, I am missing that part of the bowel to do that. It has been an absolute nightmare, but I still wouldn't do a thing differently. I am trying to start over with my pouch. Just like it is new. I get very nauseous. So I am treating it like it is new. Soft food, high protein, very very low fat. Just an update, Terri 331/211/125-130ish

Oh Linda, I am so sorry. I know what being scared like that feels like. I was told that I might have to have a hysterectomy also if the progesterone treatment did not work. I was one step from having cancer about 8 months before my surgery. In fact that is the reason I decided to have the surgery. I know you are scared and I thank God that they found it early since it is very treatable then. I will have you in my prayers if you need to chat please email me. Margie

Linda- Hugs to you.... I had my hysterectomy just 7 1/2 months post op. I also ended up with bil mastecomies in Feb. Know that you are not alone. I found lots of wonderful websites for support (much like here) We call ourselves hystersisters I too tried for the tummy tuck at the same time but it was a no go... I ended up losing much more wt following the surgeries so I'm more ready for it now. I think when I have the 2nd phase of my breast reconstruction I'm gonna have the tummy done. You are in my prayers!

Topic: A Shocker
I am now 13 months out from my surgery. I have lost 135 pounds, many inches, and I have cancer. It was a real shock to get this diagnosis. Fortunately, it is early and well contained, but, just when I thought I would be getting ready to have my tummy tuck, I am losing my uterus instead. I couldn't even talk the surgeon into throwing the tummy tuck in with the bargain! It turns out, all that fat I carried for all those years put me at risk for developing the cancer I have, and being a vegetarian just added to the mix. Who knew? I will keep you posted on how things go, but for now, just say a little prayer for me. Linda 280/145/160
