I'm surprised you haven't seen your surgeon in a year, I see still mine every six months. Anyway, yes you should call him and see if he thinks you should come in. And yes, it could be a hernia. Good luck Toni

Topic: Little worried, lots confused!
Afternoon, ya'll! Well, I have been reading replies to my "panni approved" posts and the more I read the more worried I get. I understand that the panni is the removal of the skin only but some people are saying "only" the skin below the belly button. This is where the confusion and worry is coming into play. Yes, I will be talking to my ps about all this but I can't see him until the approval letter gets faxed and they get me all set up. Ok, the "only" reason my panni got approved from my insurance co was the rash that stays inside my belly button caused by the skin above it rubbing on the skin under it. Also due to the small umbilical hernia I had. They made it plain as day that the hernia alone would not get me approved. What I am procrastinating about tonight is, wouldn't it be pointless to just remove the skin below the belly button when the belly button is the source of my problems and the reason I got approved in the first place? My insurance denied it at first. I had to go to my primary care dr once a month for 3 months to have him look at it, document it, give me meds. Then I resubmitted it almost 2 weeks ago. It barely took them a week this time to approve and I am grateful for whatever they pay for. I just don't see why they'd approve a procedure that will not take care of the problem. Any thoughts u can give me before I get to see my ps would be appreciated!! Hugs Angela

Oh my goodness, thank u Lord! I just got off the phone with my insurance co. My case manager wasn't even in today but I am a horribly impatient person and I called back just to talk with a CSR and check on the status of my appeal. She kept me on hold forever while she checked it and then she came back and said that their dr reviewed it today and, drum roll please, he marked approved on it!!! Yes!!! Thank U LORD, thank u! I am crying, laughing, I am just so happy...Thank u so much Lord! Now, my weight loss journey will be completed Hugs to all Angela P.S. Soon as my case worker is back in Monday I will be having her fax this to my ps's office and getting started!

Topic: A Hernia NOW????
I am 16 months post op. No real problems-mass weight loss-one happy little camper here. Tonight my hubby was complaining about gaining wait, pulled his shirt up and stuck out his little belly. (Mind you my hubby is 26, solid muscle, zero body fat) So I pulled my shirt up to stick out my belly and noticed a bulge! It is right at my incision. Then I said, "What the hecky pooh is that?" and I poked it-it went away. Very odd. Now it kind of hurts, my belly feels upset (naseaous) and I feel like I have a little indigestion. Could this be a hernia? I haven't seen a doctor in about a year...should I call? Thanks to anyone who has suggestions. Rebecca R 254 to 135! Forget 20W, now I wear 2L!!
