Thanks a lot Heidi! How are things going in Albuquerque? I came to the balloon festival many years ago. I am sure the city has grown since then...you are looking great yourself! Thanks for the support!

Topic: RE: How I kickstarted my weight loss...
It's great that you were able to lose 10lbs a month. I have always weighed and measured everything, from right after the surgery and still do, but I still have been in a plateau for 4 months and I'm only 6 months out! I'm glad you were able to get your loss sped up. Wish I could find a way to lose anything at all! good luck, keep weighing and measuring!

You really do look great and you can tell a huge difference!!
Isnt it funny how we dont really see that much of a difference ourselves but others really notice it!!
I ran into a girl the other nite that I went to school with that I havent seen in a few years and I walked up to her to say hi and she said oh my gosh I didnt even know that was you..youve lost so much weight!! wow what a feeling and she didnt know that I had surgery!!

Hi Deborah,
No actually I am there with you!! I dont really exercize at all!! I wal****asionally but thats about it! I am gone most of the time too with my kids in almost every sport they can get into!! I know it would help if I would kick it up a notch and start exercizing but I feel like I never have the time!! Oh well..maybe the kids will slow down this winter and I can try something!! But I cant see them slowing down!!!
Thanks for the encouragement!!

Hi Dawn, Your doing a terrific job! Don't even think your doing badly. Remember the best friend we have on this "Journey" is "Patience"! You look great , so be proud of what you have accomplished and keep at it! This is not a race that we are all in. The important thing is we get to where we want to be in the end. Be Well,
Julio
Topic: Another 6 month anniversary!
Today is 6 months from when I had revision surgery.
On March 10th, I had my old gastric band from 7 years ago removed and was revised to the DS by Dr. Baltasar in Spain. (www.duodenalswitch.com)
I have gotten rid of 111 pounds and feel great. I'm working out several days a week with a personal trainer and usually try to get a few days in on my own. I have so much energy compared to before. My asthma has once again gone away and the edema in my legs is much better. My joints and back don't ache much anymore!
I've lost bunches of inches - as of 5 months, I had lost almost 60 inches, I'm sure it's more than that now, but I won't be measured until Tuesday. I've gone from a bmi of 71.2 to 53.1. I'm getting closer to just morbidly obese from being super super morbidly obese!
I would switch to the DS again in a heartbeat - I can eat a very small normal meal and don't feel deprived. I'm drinking protein shakes too, and trying to stay on top of all my vitamins.
The one thing I still struggle mightily with is getting enough water in! I also have had some significant hair loss in front (of course!) since my 4th month. I'm getting tired of that, but I know it will grow back and already is.. it's just the chunk of hair that's new is soooo short compared to the rest of my bangs!
Life is grand, and I just wanted to update things for all of my March 2005 brothers and sisters!

Topic: RE: Plateau Update
Hi Amy! I'm so glad to see your post, but so sorry you're still stuck too! I had hoped I hadn't read anything from you because you blew the plateau and were losing like crazy. I hope the breast mass turns out to be nothing. They usually are, so I hope the odds hold for you.
And I understand completely how you feel about how you wouldn't have done this surgery for a measly 50lbs. You know, our BMIs are almost identical now, probably were when we started. I really think my plateau has a lot to do with the gym because I always lose a bunch of weight when I have to miss the gym for a few days,t hen I gain it back immediately as soon as I go back to the gym. I forget, but I think you're doing a lot of weight training too, is that right? And getting smaller and way firmer but just not losing pounds? That's what's happening with me. I can't wait to hear back from the team about what they think I need to do. I'm going to email the WLS program's exercise physiologist with my exact programs so she'll know what I'm doing and they can figure out if that's where I'm going wrong. I'll be happy to share any info I get from them with you, ok?
In the meantime, hang in there. Believe me, I know how hard it is, but we WILL bust these damned plateaus! Take care, and good luck.
