Topic: Suggestions for getting back on track
Hello fellow RNYers. I had my surgery 3 years ago, back in March, and I have to say that I'm happier than I've ever been, however the weight is starting to creep back on. I'm freaking OUT! I'm not sure how much I've gained because I'm afraid to weight myself. I do know the last time I got on the scale, I had gained 10 lbs., but I'm sure that I'm up 15 lbs now - or maybe more (Man I hope NOT).
My surgon's office never gave me any advise on how I should feed myself after recovering from the surgery - so I feel that I have not been doing this right. I never got down to my goal weight, and now that I'm at least 10 lbs. heavier, I really need to figure out what to do to get me on track.
Any advise anyone can give me on what to eat, when, and what can be done to get my weight loss back on track, would REALLY be appreciated. I've read a lot on this board of others having this same struggle, but they all seem to have some type of "instructions" from their surgeons or support groups - just wondering what these are. Also, and tips or suggestions on how to keep your self-control under control when you have that inner voice telling you "you want it - so just have it" - would be appreciated as well.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Topic: Anthem BlueAccess PPO and revisions?
Post Date: 5/12/08 10:02 am
I didn't have Anthem for my open rny 3 yrs ago but I have anthem now. I've been having some major reflux issues going on and I have a appt with a gastro doc to see whats going on down there. I have gained some weight. I'm worried that the acid might have made a hole in my pouch and thats why I don't feel full anymore and why I've gained. If any of u have Anthem what was their criteria for a revision? I did call them but I've been on hold for 30 mins. I'm impatient. I thought I'd come here first and see if anyone else has been thru this.
Thanks
Ange
Topic: RE: Hi March 2005ers
I just checked in to see if anyone had written anything...man...we must all be alike! AHAHAH! I wear a bracelet all the time that says "Failure is not an option!" I don't want to be a failure at this...I'm going to bed at 8 pm to get at 4 and go walk at the gym for 30 minutes.... I've done it two days this week...now to make it three!
We can do this, girls!! I don't eat much except when I'm tired, then I pick at things, especially sweets... Last weekend we were at my in-laws where my father in law is dying and people kept bringing food and I kept tasting! AHAHAHA!
email me and let's do an online group!

I'm sorry to be late in replying to your post, it went to an e-mail I don't check often. Are things going better for you now? I can only say that there's no secret I know of to lose weight except to eat a little less and exercise. It sounds simplified, but everyone on this site knows that simple and easy are different. If it were easy, we wouldn't have needed surgery. You're not alone in feeling like a failure, most of us have. And although I don't think you'll believe me, you have done well with your surgery and can continue to do well. You've lost a significant amount weight and are in a size 18 instead of a 26-28. People in a size 18 don't need weight-loss surgery, so the person who hurt your feelings is just foolish or you misunderstood her. I think you'll find help and support on the graduates board. I see posts all the time about this issue. My heart goes out to you and I wish I could offer you better concrete help. I check my OH mail regularly, so if you want, click "contact" at this bottom of this post and e-mail me. Don't be hesitant to post on the grads board, they'll be very supportive of you!
Topic: 3 Years!!!
It's hard to believe but it was 3 years ago today that I started my new healthy life! I went for my check up yesterday with my surgeon and he said I am doing wonderfully. I have had no complications and I still log my calories and exercise faithfully. Of course I would love to lose another 10 pounds but don't we all? Some day when I win the lottery, those 10 pounds and more would be gone with some plastic surgery. I hope everyone else is as happy as I am with the decision. Good luck to all.

Patty, thanks for the pep talk. We all need it.
You have done wonderfully. Congradulations on a job well done.
Hang in there and keep on working the program. You should be proud of yourself.
