I am 11 and 1/2 mths out. I started at 300lbs and am now down to 185ish give or take a few. Lately I feel as if I am eating WAY WAY to much! Can you guys give me some examples of what you eat on a normal day and how much. Also anyone else have this damn plateau?? I HATE IT. Anything I can do about it. Only lost bout 5 lbs in the past 2 mths. Thanks! Hope all is well!!

Jessica, I sound just like you. I have also only lost 5 lbs in 2 months. I have been testing the wters too much. I need to eliminate xtra carbs, up the protein, etc. I also don't dump so I have been trying a little sugar now and then which also isn't good. Terry

I think all of us from this time period are in the same boat---weight loss slowing down---Trying new foods--testing the waters---almost seems like I am eating normal again---but just not as much. Sometimes it depresses me and makes me long for the early preop days---Its actually scary---I don't eat the sugar--or have stay clear of it so far---ate too many sugar alcohols the other day and didn't feel good. I think like everyone says --back to basics---is the thing that will help the most. This is also scary cause our bodies---are coming down to a more considered normal weight---I am really nervous my body will say its time to stop--when I don't want to---I have squeaked by and lost 8 lbs each month the last two months---down from the 11 or 13 lbs a month early on. I still want to lose another 20-30 before any plastics---Can cause a lot of stress! We just got to keep plugging at it--I am sure you all agree! Lets keep it rolling if we can---Hit the basics again before we test any more new and wonderful foods! Lisa

I try hard to keep a high protein intake but frankly, I never was a big meat eater before or after my surgery. I'm burnt out of meat and cheese. I've switched to raw, unsalted peanuts but I can't stand peanut butter. I can nibble the nuts all day. No salt is better, don't need the sodium. The only things that cause me to dump is chocolate milk and milk shakes. It's been so hard to stay away from the chocolate with Christmas & Valentines. I go ahead and eat a few pieces to satisfy that crave. My favorite food is plain, unsweetened low fat yogurt with lite diced peaches. I nibble on raw carrots, celery, dried apples, apricots, mango, prunes & peaches for fiber. I definitely have constipation problems and have to take sennakot daily. It probably wouldn't be a problem if I drank more water. Must be kin to a desert animal because I never did drink a lot of water. I'm fluctuating between 165 & 155 and size 12 to 14 down from 245 and size 24-26. My shoe size has dropped from a 9 1/2 wide to a 8 1/2 regular. My rings are all too big and I took them down to be sized. I'd like to have a breast lift but doubt that Tricare will pay for it but I'd sure love to have boobs that reach down to my belly button. Kinds flabby in the belly and inner thighs. Not ready for that two piece swim suit yet! I have no butt so it makes it easy to go down to salvation army and buy men's jeans while I'm still loosing weight. But did buy a couple of new outfits to show my dogs in next month. I have lost 7 pounds in the last two months and I agree that it is stressful and that I am testing the food waters too much. I am doing the same as all of you and trying to get back to basics. I am continuing to exercise, but that doesn't seem to making me lose weight like in the past. I think that I am getting in about 1500 calories a day, which seems like too much (don't slam me!) but my support group leader says that amount is fine because of the exercising. I am thinking about going down to about 1100 regardless. I don't want to start gaining, and l'd like to keep losing. It is reassuring to know that other Marchers are struggling with me. At least I feel normal. Becky

Hi Folks! For what it's worth lots of folks are hitting this bump in the road. I think the big mistake alot of us make is that we are not eating enough. Having things like protien shakes and bars instead of actual meals tends to starve your body and it goes into slow mode as far as losing weight. Was also stuck for about a month, then got back on track. Remember, at this stage of the "Journey" we are not going to be losing like we did when we first started. The fact that some of us are replacing the fat we had in our bodies with lean muscle also complicates things. If your not losing weight, but your clothes are still falling off you then you know something positive is happening. I see this time of our "Journey" as a bit of a trap that makes us feel like we are failing and may just drive us to find solice in things like food. Don't let it happen, just keep your eye on the ball and off the scale! You know when you are eating right by now so stick to it. If you slip, then just dust yourself off and get back on track. This is not a race, we all lose differently so just keep up the good work as we all get to our goal in good time! Be Well, Julio
