How much can you eat?

I was just wondering how many ounces of food can you eat at one time. I am still at 3-4 oz. also how many grams of protein do you get in a day. I am 10 pounds from goal of 175 (pre-op 327) and have been "stuck" for 5 weeks. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Hi.......I eat to much... I went today and ate a 6 inch tuna sandwhich at subway and then came home and had a protein bar... I find myself grazing alot... I do get in 60oz of protein. I need to lose 12-14 more pds. I am 9 months out and finding that the honeymoon is OVER..... Best of luck Janice 231/149/????????

My "honeymoon" lasted only 10 weeks and since then I've had to struggle for every single pound I've lost. That being said, some things I can eat a lot of, like crackers, so I avoid them. Otherwise, I weigh and measure everything whenever possible to make sure I get what I need without getting too much. I get 80-100g of protein in a day, all through food. My program doesn't like protein drinks or bars so I have to struggle to get it all in. My program also says we need 45g a day minimum of protein, but I was getting about 60g in a day and was just a little low on protein at my 6 month bloodwork, so I upped it. I would not worry at all about a stall of 5 weeks. I am basically in a perpetual stall, broken by a few days here and there of weight loss. I plateaued for 4 months when I was 2 months out, lost more in about a week at the end of the 4 months, then plateaud again for about 2 more months. We seem to finally have found a plan that works for me and I'm just now starting to lose consistently, a pound or two here and there. Stalls and plateaus are completely normal, and I assume when you get close to goal they become more pronounced. Congrats and good luck! Mary Ellen

Mary Ellen- I am in the same boat as you. After coming out of my malnutrition every lb lost is a serious fight. In fact I will lose 2 lbs then gain a lb, then lose 1/2 lb. Really frustrating. I can eat about maybe a cup of food depending on what it is. I have to avoid crakers too. Bad- bad - bad for me. I really have to watchmy carbs also. More than 90-100 grams a day and I gain. I need to lose 21.5 more lbs to get to gaol and it is driving me crazy. Glad to know I am not alone.

i'm eating 4-6oz i think, i've been bad and haven't been weighing things lately. i usually eat off of a saucer plate and can have like a small boneless chicken breast and a tablespoon each of a couple of veggies. i can eat a whole bag of popcorn or a big bowl of salad though, they chew down to practically nothing. the occasional trip to a fast food place usually has me getting a 4 pc. chicken nuggets (mcdonalds) and i just "sample" the fries a bit, maybe 4-5 small ones. when i go to chick-fil-a, i get a 6 pc (their nuggets are actual chunks of breast meat and lightly breaded so i can eat more--they have very few carbs compared to most chicken nuggets too--6 pcs is 3 oz which equals 19g protein, 9 carbs) and then i'll get the fruit cup instead of fries. it's weird, sometimes i'm stuffed after the 6pcs of chicken nuggets and have the fruit for a snack later, but sometimes it seems like the chicken goes right through and i can eat the fruit too. :/ i have slowed down a lot but i have to admit that i've been grazing too much over the holidays. i'm 14 lbs. from my goal weight and it seems like i'll never get there sometimes, i lost 4 lbs. in december. michelle 277/163/150?

I am with you all! I have lost 95 pounds putting me 5 ounds from the Docs goals for me, I am happy where I am....143 and 5'5"...a size 6 in most things. an 8 in others and well....my 10s are just plain to big! What is amazing to me is that I don't feel skinny...I don't feel fat either, but when I look in the mirror I just don't see a size 6!!! (What does a size 6 REALLY look like anyway??? ) What I think is the most amazing thing for all of us to remember is that we should all keep loosing for at least 18 months! Maybe not as fast or as steady, but we should loose! I have experienced the 2 up 1 down thing, I have experienced the weeks of nothing...but WOW, this surgery is the BEST thing I have ever done! My marriage is better, my kids are thrilled and my life has become my own....no longer in the prison of fat and flab!! Now, when I see obese people, I just want to scream.....there is help!!!! You can have the greatest tool ever and be set free from it all! BUT....there are choices to be made....everyday. I too can eat tons one day and hardly anything another. Is it possible to have stretched my tummy out over the holidays?? I too grazed over the Holidays, not gaining anything, just not losing....You all are such an inspiration and encouragement!!! THank you all for sharing your struggles and successes they have helped me and kept me encouraged when I felt like I just couldn't do it!!! JKN

I don't really measure my food. I just kinda eat till I am full. But I was figuring out the ounces for what I am eating today and this is what I came up with. B: 20oz latte from starbucks (its all liquid so obviously can drink more of that) S: cheese and triscuits - 1.5oz L: Chicken and spinach salad from Subway - 10.5oz (I can always down about this many oz of salad..it chews down to nothing) S: Plum tomato sliced - 2oz D: 2 tacos from taco bell 6.4oz (I usually only end up eating about 1 and a half of these so it ends up about 4.5oz or so) As far all of that, it ends up around 900 calories and 60 grams of protein. Those last 10 pounds are always the hardest to lose. Just keep up the routine and eventually they will come off. Good for you for getting as far as you have. Kerri -132lbs
