Hello to allmy wonderful March buddies- Most of you are doing superb on the weight loss. I feel as though I am the thorn in everyone's side. Some of you know that I had that scarry bought of mal-nutrition and starvation and then came out of it. But since then I ham having a really difficult time lsoing. I stall- pick up a lbs and then lose suddenly and then stall etc, etc. I am frustrated. My weight at first consult was 286, by surgery date it was 273, it was 181 last week and now it is 185. I am currently on steriods for my lungs (getting over pneumonia) but really- this is getting frustrating. Overall I've lost 101 lbs but really only 88 since day of surgery. I am feeling lost. There were so many changes made to my diet to address my mal-nutrition. My endocronologis and nutritionist had me add more carbs because my ketosis was way to high and kept me in dehydration. Then reduced meat products to cut back vomitting. Then switched me to milk protien drinks and then back to regular- it got dizzying. ANyway- now that I am on a more regular diet I am having difficulty losing at a consistant pace. I feel like a failure. I so want to get down under 173 so I can say I've lost 100 lbs since surgery itself. Any ideas out there. Oh and I'm sure you want to know if I am exersizing. The answer is mostly no. I have a spinal cord disorder being treated and am in physical therapy. They are asking me to be caeful for now. I should be cleared to increase exersize in 3 weeks. Up to this point my mal-nutrition prevented me from exersizing. Can anyone relate, encourage, help??????????? In advance- you guys are the best!!!!!!

I read your profile. You say that your doctor said you would lose between 84-112 pounds. You are close to his prediction. I don't see how tall you are, so I don't know what "goal" is for you. I have seen a lot of people say that the last few pounds is difficult. You are certainly not a failure. You are losing just as your doctor says you should, even with all these health problems. As for increasing your weight-loss, if you are under 900 calories a day, that can slow things. You can also try eating every 3-4 hours. Make sure to drink 70+ ounces of water a day. Take all of your vitamins. Also, steriods will make you retain water, so that may explain the increase in your weight. You can try to not add salt to the food you cook to even things out. (I take steroids, and I retain water, too, if I am not careful about salt). Good luck, and feel better soon. Every couple of weeks, I freakout about my weight, too. Most of us do. You're not alone in this. Becky

Hi Pamela Don't feel bad you're not the only one in slow mo,join the club .I've been at plateau two months 212 gain and lost a couple lbs and it is driving me crazy.I've been reading everyone post and most of them lost over 100lb.I'm trying to do that for my birthday but I don't think i'm going to make it,its so depressing.Eat the recommend protein/day(60-90g/day),try to drink 8glass of water a day,I also excercise 4x a week and still at a plateau so I'll try take it in stride and hope I'll break. Now to but a wrench to the whole thing I fell at work and sprain my back.If it ain't one thing its another.I wish you luck and keep your hopes up you will break that plateau. Pam, I am in the same boat as you. I am almost to the 100 pound mark but just can't seem to get there I got down to within 2 pounds thern up 2 pounds. I just kind of figure I will get there when I get there. As long as my clothes don't get tight i am ok. I am off my meds for blood pressure and diabetes so as far as I am concerned I am where I want to be. I met my goal. Mine was not weight based it was how I feel and my health improvement. I met both of them. KEEP AT IT YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!

My starting weight was 242. My now Stablized weight since 10-04-2005 has been 168. A 74 pound weight loss in six in a half months. I am 5 ft 7. I'am happy now at this weight. After my hernia repair and possible TT, I will look better at the 168 weight. I don't want to be to thin for my age or I skin might look to wrinkled. Without my surgeron and the grace of God I would have probely never been able to see myself at 168 again.

Plateau....I hate it. I have been in the 230's for 2 months now.....up a pound down 2 ....back up and down. It is enough to make someone insane. However, I have dropped 2 sizes in those months. When I saw the doctor in October for my 6 mth, I was in a 20, and I went shopping last week and bought a 16 in jeans. Have you lost any sizes? I would love to see that scale fall below 230, but I will take the 2 sizes! Good Luck!! Genny 358/232/160

I have lost some in size. Eventhough my weight has not changed much I am down in a 14. But it is frustrating to keep hovering. I will lose 3 lbs, then gain 1 lb, then nothing changes for a while, then lose 1/2 lb. I am meeting with my nutritionist on the 16th to go over my food plan and examine labs so we can see how to kick start things again. I also have been emailing vitalady who had some really great tips and I think I may see some improvement. I HOPE SO!!!!! You know we have gone through some much, you just don't want to have suffered the pain, long recovery, mood swings etc to not get to your ultimate goal and maintain your goal. This is a chance of a lifetime and I just don't want to blow it now or EVER!!!!
