Hello, I subscribe to a newsletter/blog called Living After WLS. The author posted a pretty good article about the "window of opportunity" of WLS and how we sometimes panic that it is going to close on us. Here is the link http://www.livingafterwls.blogspot.com/ take care, corgimom

Wow, this is great!! Great site too. Never heard of this site! I know, at 8 months out I wonder if my "window" is gone too and reading this helped me realize that there's no window!! I CAN continue to lose weight even AFTER the honeymoon stage!! Hi, Wow thanks for the excellant post and the link to the article. It sure did boost my spirits up. I saw that Trisha read the article too and I am so glad. I replied to her post right before I saw yours and was going to write her again and give her the link. I liked the site so well that I signed up for the newsletter! Thanks for letting us know that we are in control of the window and how far it is opened. Take care, Roxi

Great article. You know it stands to reason that why should our weight loss suddenly halt after 12-18 months if we are following the same guidelines that we did all along. I have to say, that I was also under the belief that there was a so-called "window". I am 7 months out, and down 123 lbs. I am thrilled with my loss, but am not at my goal weight. I do know that after investigating WLS for a year, and finally deciding to do it, I was so ready for this, and knew that it was a rest of life decision. I tell people, "No, I cannot eat sugar". They say "Ever?". I say "ever". I don't know if I dump, I don't want to know. I have been strictly compliant with my diet. I know that I have not eaten a morsel of bread, pasta, or anything sweet in 7 months. I do not feel deprived. I feel proud. I have made an enormous accomplishment and I am in control of my body. Finally! Eileen
