For those following my epic plateau journey, I had an appt with my programs bariatrician on 9/9. I weighed 216.8 then. Today I had my 6 month surgical follow up and I weighed 213.8. That's 3 lbs in 2 weeks! And I was stuck at 220 for 4 months, so I've now lost 7lbs in just a few weeks. Could this be it??? I also saw the nutritionist today. I am one of their cases for discussion at the team meeting on 9/27. So far, all anyone can think is that I'm doing WAY WAY WAY too much strength training. My eating is perfect, I walk at least 2 miles a day and get in as much cardio as I can at the gym. I expect to have them recommend that I do no more than 30 min of light weight training a day (lots of reps of only certain exercises using light weights) and then 30 min of cardio on a machine, and then walk the dog every night. I'm more than willing to do anything. Oh, and of interest, my surgeon said it's not surprising to find people having different weight loss experience based on their body type. He said apple shapes like me often lose a lot really really fast in the very beginnning as their visceral fat thins, but that it's common for them to really slow down afterwards. He also said that pear shaped people lose fast upper body abut have a really hard, slow time losing the lower body stuff. Just thought that was interesting. Thanks for all the support I've gotten. I'll post when I hear their recommendations after the team meeting. Mary Ellen

That's great to hear that you finally broke through. I can imagin it must have been frustrating. My loss is slow, only a couple pounds a week but I have a hard time staying motivated with the exercise component of the program. Pain in my upper back is hampering my motivation and sometimes my mood. I've lost a total of 96 lbs, 15 pre-op and 81 post (surgery 3/21/05). I too am an apple shape and was facinated to hear about "how" we lose. Lets me know that even though things are slow, there's still hope to get to goal, which is another 41 lbs away. Thanks for sharing your journey. Toni
