I have been reading thru some of these post and see some of u saying your weight loss is slow. I had the same problem and here is what I did to kick my weight loss in the bootie. All of us are different and your surgeon might not tell u to do the same thing I did. I am just doing exactly what my surgeon told me to do to start with. I have lost 14 pounds since August 25 and would have lost more but my monthly visitor stopped by and just left yesterday. The scales moved again this morning. If any of u want to try this it works for me. The following is a post I made on OH messageboard. Update on me for 8/30/05 Wow, I am so shocked! I was losing so slowly. Only 10-13 pounds a month. Then last Wednesday I went to see my surgeon for a check up, I had lost 70 pounds at that time. He was happy with my progress even though I wasn't. When I had surgery my surgeon (and all Dr's are different, I am not putting any Dr down this is just what my surgeon does) he told me after surgery I would be eating 3 meals consisting of 2oz each. I measured for maybe a couple of weeks, but then I stopped measuring. I was told and had read on the boards that hardly anyone measured. I never let myself get full, I just ate small amounts, small bites and took 30 to 45 mins to consume my meal. That worked because I lost 70 pounds before my 5 month check up last week, but my weight loss slowed down to where I hadn't lost any in 2 weeks. I had a brain fart after I went to the Dr last week. That night I thought well, tomorrow I am going to start measuring 2oz exactly, no more popcorn snacking, no more a chip here and there. I also started measuring my liquids and now get in more than 100oz of something sugar free each day. Thursday I was still sitting at a loss of 70lbs. I now only eat 3 meals a day, 2oz consisting of cheese cubes, peanut butter, eggs, and meats high in protein. I am loving this! That was Thursday, this is Tuesday and I have lost 10 pounds. I am so happy! Of course I can't brag to Dr Shina because then I would have to say I wasn't measuring like I was supposed to and he might not be happy about that, lol. I am a big chicken. I also started doing some new exercises. Nothing hard or strenuous. Also Dr Shina told me that Diet Coke Zero will not hurt me or impede my weight loss! Yeah, Diet Coke Zero!!! I hate regular diet cokes but love this one! Hugs and God Bless Angela Open RNY 3/24/05 313/233/157??? P.S. I guess the moral to this is, do what your Dr tells u to do! LOL Hugs Angela Open RNY 3/24/05 313/229/140??? Oh, before my monthly visitor I was averaging a loss of 1-3 pounds a day. I hope no one sees this as bragging because I'm not. I wish someone had posted something like this before when I was only losing maybe 10 pounds a month. Hope this helps someone. Love, Angela

It's great that you were able to lose 10lbs a month. I have always weighed and measured everything, from right after the surgery and still do, but I still have been in a plateau for 4 months and I'm only 6 months out! I'm glad you were able to get your loss sped up. Wish I could find a way to lose anything at all! good luck, keep weighing and measuring! Mary Ellen
