Elevated Liver Enzymes

I am seeing a liver specialist again to see why my liver enzymes are elevated. I had a gallbladder and liver ultrasound and everything is clear there. So I am wondering if anyone else has had elevated liver enzymes and what they did for it. I thought I heard somewhere that this can happen after surgery or if taking antidepressants ( Effexor). Anybody got any ideas??? Thanks, Melanie 232/159/130ish

Hi Melanie, I went for bloodwork this past month and found out that my alkaline phosphates levels were elevated. Checked into it myself and found that these have to do with the liver or the gallbladder. I have an appointment with my surgeon on the 30th of this month. Really curious to know if and what it all means. I'm feeling fine with no stomach/digestion pain. I'll keep posted once all is known. Best of luck to you. TraciL

Mine is high, too. The doctor is checking me out. My gallbladder was removed when I had my surgery. So far, nothing has been done for it and I have no ideas that would be helpful. Linda 327/259/135ish

Hi there! I too have elevated liver enzymes and I had my gall bladder out 7 years ago. My doctor is going to check me again in a couple of weeks to see if they are still elevated!! This is the first time they have ever been elevated. I had a catscan and everything looked fine also. I have read that some medicines, i.e. pain medication can elevate them also. Please keep us posted. I will let you know if I hear of anything helpful. Melissa

Returning with news that liver enzymes commonly go up during extreme weight losses and weight gains. My liver specialists says that this is nothing to be overly concerned about. If however they remain elevated after weight has been stabilized then their might be need for further testing. Soooo don't be alarmed if your liver enzymes come back high! Melanie
