Marchers with hair loss?
Hello fellow Marchers,
Are most of you guys experiencing hair loss? Mine has been going on for about a month and a half now. I thought that my hair was so thick that if I lost some it would be okay. But this is unreal I am taking biotin but it doesn't seem to be having any effect. I've been getting my protein in, about 65-70 grams per day.
I hope it quits soon. My hair is getting very thin.

You are not alone!!! Most people on here have talked about hair loss and there have been all kinds of suggestions!! Mine started at about 2 months after surgery and is just now starting to get better!! I have heard from most people that have had this surgery alot longer than I have that this will pass and I think it will start passing for me now! Myself, I just made sure I took my vitamins, calcium, upped my protien and my water! What else can we do but to do what we are suppose to! I guess it was a small price I had to pay to get healthy!! And I had already been told before I had surgery that this could happen!!
Good luck and like most everything else just remember,,,this to shall pass!!

I was losing hair before the surgery. I found that as a vegetarian, I wasn't getting a good complement of proteins. Since the surgery, the hair loss seemed to stay the same until my nutritionist recommended Head and Shoulders shampoo. He says, because it has zinc in it, it tends to retard hair loss. I've been using it for several months now, and it seems like the hair loss has finally slowed down.
Head and Shoulders comes in a lot of different formulas, and I like the one that says it's for extra fullness.

Ditto on the hairloss here ... for about a month now. In addition to my complete vitamins, I'm already on an additional Zinc supplement, and, three weeks ago, my dietitian had me start on Biotin as well. Maybe it's doing some good, but I still have lots of hair on my pillow each morning, and when I run my hands through my hair I see a lot coming out. Add to that, my scalp itches all the time now, and I never had that problem before ... nor did I have such skin dryness and flaking (all over). I have (well, make that "had" now) thick hair too, but not anymore. Complicating the whole thing ... my hair is gray and tends to be on the dry side anyway ... this has just made it totally brittle. I'm getting ready to try the H&S shampoo and see if that makes a difference. For now, I'm keeping my hair short to lessen the stress I put on it ... I've cut out the blow drying and hot curlers and hair spray and have gone to washing it every other day instead of every morning.
have a good day everyone!

Same here. It's slowed down now though. But my hair is soooo thin, especially compared to pre-op. But in some ways that's cool, I can style it in new ways.
I've taken biotin since week 2, but think this is inevitable and just has to run it's course.
I'm just grateful that I'm no longer leaving trails of DNA wherever I go.

My hair too has been falling out in clumps everyday, in the shower, floor, sink, everywhere. I have pcos and had thin hair before, but this is over the top. One of my patients in my lab suggested NIOXIN to use.She said she has used it for 2 1/2 years and has a head full of hair. She swears by it. So i went to the hair salon inside of walmart and they sell it. It's kinda expensive but i feel worth it. When I got to the register i was tickled to see it on sale. I got the 10 oz cleanser and 10 oz scalp therapy both for 20.00 (reg. was 30.00) . I hope it works for me. I am 40 pounds from goal and would hate to be bald!!! started 327 as of today
