Hair Loss

I am also having the "hair loss problem" but I have a question that goes along with the hair loss, Has anyone expierenced dandruff along with the hair loss? I have never had dandruff in my life, and since the hair loss I now have dandruff. Nancy 273.196. ?

Hi Patti, I too have noticed a hair loss. It is worse when I shampoo my hair. I have been taking Biotin supplement tablets and using Nioxin shampoo and products. My sister, a hairdresser, told me that my even with the hair loss she has noticed that I have new hair growth due to the Biotin. I did notice that a couple of my friends who also had the surgery did not take protein and did lose their hair by the handfuls. So try to keep your protein up and drink tha****er. Patti, Oh, yeah I am losing hair big time. I didn't ever imagine it would be this bad. I had very thick hair prior to surgery and now, well let's just say I had to go out and buy a hat. My hair is so thin, especially on top. I'd say I have a fourth of what I used to have. I am not sure how long it will last. I am hoping that the stories are true and it will end in a couple of months. I am not going to try any expensive shampoos or any additional vitamins... I just plan on wearing my hat and riding it out Kerri 240lbs day of surgery 169 4 months post op

Patti, I don't think I am loosing hair yet but it is VERY dry and brittle. I try to not wa**** if possible except for about every 3 days and condition in between. It is hard to know what is from swimming and what is from surgery though. Terri 335 first weigh in 324 pre-op 255 now as of 072105 160 dr's goal 140 my goal

I had my surgery on 3/30/05. My hair loss just began about 2 weeeks ago, and it has started with a bang. I didn't think that I would have the hair loss problem but it just started happening over night. I am afraid to wash my hair. It comes out in long stands, and the more I brush the more hair falls out. If this keeps up at this rate, I will be bald by October.

hi patti, i am going through the exact same thing. this is what i heard . after you have loss your first 50 lbs your hair starts to fall. they say it will grow back after a year. i say i will be bald by then . anyway the doctor told me to up my protein and to take a daily vitaim called Biotin they sell it at duane reade, gnc, and i also think rite aid. i have and it is still falling out but not as bad as it was. take care and good luck.
