This month sucks!
I tell ya, the first 3 months post-op were a breeze. This month has been so hard. I haven't lost any weight this month (well 2 lbs the first day of the month), and nothing since. I am trying to shake things up a bit and have a little variety in eating, drinking and exercise. Talked with my surgeon about this on Friday because I was also having ulcer type pains, so he rx'd me some prescriptions for that. He also said that walking is okay the first 3 months post-op, but by month four I should be incorporating cardio exercise along with strength training, basically join a gym.
So I'll be doing that sometime this week. Just need to find one I like that doesn't have a high initiation fee or anything like that. Guess it's time to do more than walking.
Also, I've never had an ulcer before and they aren't sure that's what I have but my symptoms are pretty classic for an ulcer. So I am taking carafate, prilosec and percoset. If the carafate and prilosec don't work in a week, I am to come in and see him. So pray that these meds work. I don't want anything serious to be wrong.
Other than that, I'm doing good. Just wish the @#$*@(@ scale would move!! LOL I miss it going down each morning.

Sorry your having a bad month, but if it makes you feel better I'm right there with ya! I was losing 3-4lbs a week like clockwork and all of a sudden this month I've hardly lost anything. Its really discouraging!
Then to top it off I was having bad stomach pain and my doctor thought it was an ulcer, but ended up being colitis and a lower abdominal infection. Keep your chin up it has to get better! Scarlette
Trisha,
Sorry that you're not feeling well. Hopefully the perscriptions will kick in and provide you with some relief. But yeah, you're down 85 lbs, that's great!!
Couple suggestions on the scale issue.
#1) don't get on the scale everyday. Your best bet to keep yourself sane is to only weigh once per week.
#2) make sure you get all your water in everyday, it's very important to the process, get at least 48 oz but 64 is optimal.
#3) make every effort to get your protein in every meal. Follow your doc's guidelines, mine has me striving for 50 grams a day.
#4) watch the carbs, they can be a real stumbling block at this stage of the game.
5#) mix up what you're doing for exercise. You burn calories more effeciently if your body doesn't know what to expect.
Good luck!
Toni
Trisha,
Have you checked out your YMCA? I don't live in AZ, but here our Y offers water aerobics classes in an indoor pool, 1 hour per class, three times per week, for $10 a month, no initiation fees. And since there are two classes on these days, back-to-back, if we attend the early class we can swim for the second hour gratis. I do this because my back is bad and I'm not up to a full gym-workout, and I'm actually loving it.
Maybe your Y offers something like this or maybe it offers some sort of cardio-strength training class too. Hope you feel better soon.

Trisha,
I haven't lost any weight this month, either, but I'm shrinking like mad! I've lost 50 inches since I've had surgery. I've been in pain, too, and I think that may have something to do with it. I'm not worried though. The way I'm eating has changed so drastically since surgery, so I know eventually it will all come off.
Keep it up!
Heidi
Two weeks after surgery, I had six weeks of no loss and I thought I would go crazy. I'm kind of glad it happened now, though, because I'm much more relaxed when weight loss slows down. You may not be losing weight but you are almost certainly losing inches -- and that's very cool. So, get out your tape measure and enjoy the little victories.
I'm so glad you posted! I am going nuts this month too. I feel like I'm doing something wrong! I know my body has really caught up this month though, my face has firmed up and I'm wearing my former "skinny" clothes. I still wear anything from 18W to 22W, but tops bigger than 1X look too big. I can't wait to fit into regular large(which I haven't in almost 30 years!
Thanks for listening
