Not losing, eating too much?

Okay, I gained 6 lbs last week - not sure how. And 10 days later the 6 lbs is still here. I don't know what is going on. I am able to eat a little bigger portions now than I have been before - like the other night I had a chicken thigh, 1/2 small baked potato and some broccoli florets, probably constitued about 6-8oz of food. Is that about what you guys can eat right now? It's like I am able to eat like a normal (small) person. I'm 4 months out - like you all are. I had lap RNY. I'm freaking out becuase I'm able to eat more this past week or two and since I have been eating more I gained 6 lbs. And i didn't eat enough calories to constitute 6 lbs. The most calories I had in one day is 1200. I don't get it. Trisha

I'm still only able to do about 2-3 oz per sitting but don't freak out about that, every one is different. There are a ton of reasons that can cause a gain; that time of month, not drinking enough between meals, less exercise, not having a good BM for a while... Don't worry too much, we all go thru stalls and slight backslides occasionally. Just focus on the basics and things will get going in the right direction again. Toni Lap RNY 3/21/05

Hi Trisha, I am still only able to eat 2-3 ozs. max! When I can get that much in, I feel pretty fortunate. Anymore than that makes me sick. My Dr. also has me restricted to 500-600 calories per day. I know all Dr.s are different, and mine just may be more strict. I've hit plateau's but haven't actually gained. Could it be related to perhaps your monthly cycle????? Hang in there. Sue

I eat 4 oz. max at each meal. About 80-100% is protein. My program stresses that we should NEVER eat more than a half cup of food, that eating more will eventually make the pouch larger, we'll be hungrier, and we'll gain weight. They would rather we add another meal than eat more than 4 oz. at one sitting. The weight could be jus****er retention, but drink your water and exercise and you'll be ok.

Hi Trisha, I had a nasty little 7 lb gain myself for no apparent reason. I had been sick with vomiting from an ulcer prior to that and my PCP said that body was just hanging on to everything I put in it because it thought it was starving. It has taken a few weeks to get that 7 lbs off. Was really upset about the whole thing and then decided that I am sick to death of this weighing thing and getting upset so have not been getting on the scales everyday now. Have kind of stayed off the board lately too because I don't feel like I have done as well as others have. Needed time to deal with myself and realize this is a personal journey for all of us and we are all going to be different. Think I heard that from you once!!!LOL. Just hang in there you are doing super. My doc said you can't hurt yourself by drinking diet pop but it will make some of us gassy and burp. I can eat more now too but still try to keep myself at 1/2 cup. It depends on what it is. If it is soft food I can easily go over 4 oz. You have done such an amazing job! Roxi

Hi trisha, Well I am having the same problem as you, except I have stayed at the same weight for about 2wks now. What I found out was that, yes I am able to eat more, but I was having more carbs than what I should have. I noticed that I could have one piece of bread with my eggs in the morning and I would finish the bread, but not the egg. In my fourth month I can now handle fruit. And this was worse! Instead of eating protein, I was just eating fruit for one meal or even two a day. So I have cut this completely out of my meals and I seem to be losing again. I went from 235 a week ago to now being 228. So I would just stick to protein until you are full and maybe treat yourself to a carb about twice a month.

I can only eat about 2 ozs. at a time but I was starting to go carb crazy, so I cut that out quick since I started getting bloated constipated and stalled! So I limit my carb intake and went back to the good ol glycemic index and eat mainly protein. I hope this stall is licked quick. I have no period problems for once in my life and are regular so that is not it. I just have to not go crazy on carbs and see what happens. LOL Margie
