Thanks for all the responses for what everyone is taking in regarding protein, water and exercise. Now I was wondering for all those getting in 60-70 grams of protein, are you doing it through food or protein shakes. If shakes what brand. thanks corgimom

Corigimom I find that I get a lot of my protein from Carb COuntdown milk. I drink the choc. Milk. You get 12 grams of protein per one cup of milk. As a former choc - o - holic this is a great sourse of protein for me and only 3 grams of sugar. Oh and it is also in white milk too. I think though it is only 121 grams per cup--but stil lrefreshing if you are a milk lover. BEcky

i focus on protein first when i eat, and i also drink 2 shakes a day. lately it's been an acheivone coffee drink in the AM, and a nectar shake in the afternoon. acheivone has 120 calories and 20g protein, nectar has 90 calories and 24g protein. both have very little (if any) sugar. i usually get the rest from food, sometimes i'll eat a power crunch bar to help a little if i'm running low on protein that day. i get all of these from bariatriceating.com. (there is almost always a banner ad for them on this page) michelle 277/209/150

Which coffee flaveor do you like? I think I'll try some with my next order. I also like susan's site for my protein. I use IOSPURE and mix it up with yogurt and friut in the morning. kathy

i like all four, i wish she still mixed cases but apparently they break easier when they're not shrinkwrapped. you can get a tryout pack that has one of each flavor. i'd have to say the mocha is my favorite though.

I stopped drinking shakes the minute I went to pureed foods. Today, I'll have a protein bar (Odyssey bars are great and 30 g of protein; Labrada Rockin' Roll bars taste like payday bars and are 21 g--both can be purchased at Susan Maria Leach's site, bariatriceating.com.) or I'll make sure I'm eating high protein meals (fish, chicken, buffalo (yes, buffalo!)) or mixing items to make sure they're high protein (low-carb corned beef hash with shredded cheese).

I get 40 grams of protein from eating an Oddyssey Bar (30 grams) and a South Beach Diet bar (10 grams, only 140 calories and absolutely delicious -- Kraft did a nice job with them). I get 40-45 grams from food. My typical meal is 80-100% protein. Right now, I can't eat as much food as the doctor would like, but I expect I'll be able to eat more as time goes on. At that time, I would expect more protein would come from the food and less from the bars.

I am good if I get one protein shake in a day - they get very boring after a while - even if you do different flavors. I'm now a protein bar kind of gal. Protein Crunch is my fave! I like balance, cliff and luna bars too. I have to try the Odyssey and Rock N Roll bars mentioned above. Those sound great!! I LOVE payday!!

Hi...I am 14 months post op and down 125 pounds. I think that I have tried every type of protein powder and liquids and hated them all. Through this website I heard about Unjury powdered protein (unjury.com). I buy the unflavored kind and now use it in a cup of morning coffee. I use 1 and 1/2 scoops which is 30 grams of protein. I bought a small battery operated stirrer and it helps to get rid of any lumps of powder. It is tasteless!!! I also buy carnation instant breakfast (SF) and mix it with one scoop of protein and 1 cup of soy milk. It tastes like a chocolate shake. The people who own the company are wonderful and you usually have the powder the next day. They also sell samples...hope this helps and good luck. I did this religiously and did not lose any hair.
