Every single time I lose a pound or 2, I plateau for a week. What am I doing wrong? Am I doing ok? I started at 294, now I am at 236. I am at a 58 pound total weight loss. Is that good or normal? Is there anyone else out there that does this too. Every single time I lose, Like I have been at 236 since last Thursday, and I will lose probably next Tuesday. Thats expected every time I lose. Am I going nuts? Someone tell me. Thank you..... Lots of love for you all Marchers.... Jessica

Jessica... HI to you Weight Loss for us all is gonna be different. The only thing that I can think of right off hand to ask is are you getting in your protein? Is it what the doc recommends-- and if not maybe you need to try to get in more. And are you getting in all your water? Most defintly dont forget your vitamins.. Hope You are well my friend! You are not going nutz though, so dont think that. Your loss will happen for you in time. Keep faith! Becky

You are doing GREAT!! The only thing I would suggest is only weigh yourself once every two weeks or so, or at least no more than once per week. That way you don't obsess so much and the progress seems to go faster. Continued success on your journey.

Oh and one other thing Jessica.. Throw that scale out and never look back at it. It will get the best of you if you let it! Have a nice day Becky

I had surgery the day before you. I, too, plateau for days and days. I'm behind you in weight loss (52 pounds), but my doctors are happy with my loss so far. I keep thinking how much better I feel and that it may take me a little longer, but I'll get there just by making sure I get my protein and exercise! You're doing great, don't be depressed. Think about it, you're already more than half way to the century mark!!!! Keep you chin up and feel good about yourself. Cheryl

I'm losing weight slowly too. I'm down 61 pounds but 25 of that was in the 2 months before surgery. Two weeks after surgery I had 6 weeks with no weight loss. The good news is that if you lose weight more slowly you are less likely to have skin problems. Also, when the scale isn't moving, my tape measure is. Enjoy the disappearance of those inches.

Hi Jessica, Well I had my surgery the day before you, and I am also sitting on a 58 lb loss (351/293), and I sure hope it's normal. I sometimes doubt mysKat Celf when I read about others who have lost more than me, but I know I'm doing what I need to do, and it is coming off. I am on my first serious plateau right now - lost 6lbs/week 2 weeks in a row, and have not registered a loss since then, about 2 weeks ago. Ugh. But I was PMSing, and also eating saltier stuff (on the road) so i am chalking it up to some fluid retention. Keep on truckin! You are doing great! Kat C

My weight loss comes in clusters too. We are all different and some people lose steadily and some lose every few weeks. I know after a big jump in weight loss, I'll stay steady for a few days or up to a week or so and then lose again. It was FRUSTRATING at first, but this is apparently how my body works. 58 lbs loss is great in 4 months. They say the "average" is 15 lbs a month. You are right around there. I know two patients here in local support groups that are 4 months out and in the low 50's in weight loss. So we all lose at different paces. Like they say, the more you have to lose, the faster it comes off at first. So don't compare yourself to someone who weighed a hundred pounds more than you at surgery time, ya know? Actually don't compare yourself to anyone because we are all different and we all lose differently. LOL Whenever I compare myself to someone I get down and depressed thinking - gosh, why couldnt' I lose my 1st 100 the first 3 months. But this is my body and I love my body and it's doing what it needs to do! Hugs, Trisha
