WHEW. just got back from the hospital, it's nothing serious. my liver enzymes are elevated, probably b/c of the stricture in my bile duct, but there's not a stone and it should resolve itself within a few days. i don't have any hernias or obstructions in my intestines--things are just moving slowly in general, my full bowels are pressing on sore spots from the surgery, and my liver is a little ticked off, but not enough for it to be serious. i just have to kick my constipation remedies up a notch, and i have a follow-up appointment on wednesday to make sure everything has improved. i'm relieved, and glad to have an explanation for why i wasn't recovering as quickly as everyone said i would. i'm still in pain, but at least now i know why! thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers. michelle 277/216/150

Whew!! So glad you don't have any stones and that everything is relatively normal - well as normal as you can be when you are backed up. I hope you start feeling better soon and can stay out of hospital for a long, long while!! Hugs, Trisha

thank you! that icon is hilarious. thanks to MOM (milk of magnesia) i'm in the opposite boat now, running to the toilet every 10 minutes, but it's relieving the pressure on my sore belly so i don't mind. i was so scared that they had left a stone behind in my bile duct b/c that would have meant MORE surgery! but as long as my liver enzymes haven't gotten worse by wednesday, i should be ok. i never thought about what happens when they clamp things off, it didn't occur to me that ducts don't always bounce back to normal right away after the clamp is taken off. but now the big green menace is gone, and my liver is only a little mad that it's gone. thanks again!

And, here, I thought I was the only one in here who was full of... ...nope, not gonna go there! Seriously, Michelle, glad it isn't as serious as you thought, and hope everything works out in the end... ...didn't I JUST SAY I wasn't going to go there??? Evil Greg (342/245/178)
