just wanted to update, i'm alive and home and all that good stuff. the surgery went ok but i woke up screaming in recovery, apparently i've become resistant to morphine and i woke up in the worst pain of my life. they had to give me demerol. went home afterward, ended up going back to the hospital yesterday b/c i was in more pain than after my RNY and the meds were wearing off in an hour (supposed to last 4). the surgeon said it was unusual but i'm not running a fever and they ran bloodwork to make sure i don't have an infection or anything. he just told me to increase the dose of my pain meds and sent me home, said to go to the ER if it got worse or didn't improve in a few days. haven't had much of an appetite, couldn't eat the day of surgery, didn't feel like eating yesterday, and when i finally tried to eat last night i realized my pouch must have shrank b/c i can only eat about half of what i could a few days ago, and i almost threw up. haven't had a BM in quite a while, that might be contributing to my pain, dunno if i'm constipated or just haven't eaten enough to have anything to get rid of, hehe. i am still drinking 2 protein drinks a day, and taking all my supplements, so hopefully i'll be o****il my appetite comes back. i've been incredibly thirsty and pretty much drinking water or protein drinks 24/7. anys, just wanted to update. i've plateaued, probably a combo of IV fluids and not eating (starvation mode), which kinda stinks right before my 3 month anniversary, but i already hit the 60 lbs. lost mark so i'm happy. michelle 277/217/150

Glad that you're home, sucks that you're in pain. Hopefully that will resolve itself soon. Don't worry about the appetite too much, a combo of the surgery and pain meds will supress it for a few days. Toni Lap RNY 3/21/05 267/193
