Today was my 3 month check up..
Today was my 3 month check up and i feel it was a waste of time .. i went they weighed me and that is it .... as I was walking out I asked them to give me the priscription for the blood work , Because im curious on how my cholesterol is doing .. otherwise i don't think that they would have given it to me :-& weird ehhhh?
I thought there would be more testing... am I wrong?
I have my appt tomorrow and they will do all the blood work---I am eager too cause I, unlike many have little to no energy and know that I am lacking in some supplement---Iron, potassium or B shots---Can't wait to find out what I need cause I want to feel great and not tired--And Yes--its important to see where we stand with these things just after surgery--later we will be followed on a yearly basis---These early tests can prevent problems later on I think!
Wish me luck too!

I just had a 3 month visit and my surgeon gave me a lab sheet to have completed 2 weeks prior to my 6 month check up. He said that is when they will check everything and make sure things are going okay and being absorbed okay.Other than that I was weighed and he wanted to make sure everything was going okay.

Though I really liked and respected my surgeon, I went to one follow-up visit and was so disappointed I haven't gone back again. I go to his monthly support classes so I can ask him any questions I have, but the visits are a waste. I waited over two hours past my appointment time to get in, and like you, he weighed me, asked what I was eating, and that was it. I just went to my regular doctor last week and had them draw blood (haven't gotten the results yet) so my plan is just to continue to monitor my bloodwork through my own doctor.

I saw my surgeon three weeks after surgery and won't again until October. No blood was drawn (he just looked at the incision) and the only blood tests done have been by my PCP (who won't see me until November). All my nutrition and progress questions are handled by the hospital WLS program (which is quite good). But, unless I have a problem, I won't be seeing anybody at all.
Hi,
My 12 week checkup was yesterday as well. I saw the surgeon, discussed exercise and supplements I am taking, gave a rx for b12 injections monthly- said I am doing very well and keep up the good work- he also looked at my incision. I see him again in September. My pcp ordered bloodwork but I did have it drawn yet. Sorry that you had a bad experience!!

Hi. We have the same surgery date. My 3 month check up was the 14th. I was given a lab order form at my 1 month check up and had the blood tests (6 tubes!) done 2 weeks before my appointment as told by the doctor to do. At my 3 month checkup, he looked at my incision, went through what I was eating, drinking and feeling. He went over the test results (my cholesterol is down to 138) and found I was lacking in B12. He asked if I felt tired and I said yes by mid-afternoon. He gave me shot and switched my vitamins to a pre-natal kind. He's a great doctor! Anyway, I'm much more 'awake' now, so I'm glad it was the vitamin problem. My next appointment isn't until 6 months, but he'll do blood work etc again. Maybe call your doctor a couple of weeks before your next appt and request he order your tests so that you can discuss them in person with him at the appointment. Hang in there!
Hi tinkerbelle,
My 3-month appointment is on the 21st and I had to have numerous labs done prior to my appt. In fact I have to cancel my appt because all my test won't be done and the whole reason behind a 3-month appt is to see where your blood work is at, don't ya think?? I would definitely talk to your Doctor about this since your appts aren't cheap and you would like to get more than just a weigh in at these prices.
