Hey fellow Marchers, Just wondering what everyone is taking in the forms of vitamins and calcium and are you taking a B-12??? I don't believe I am the norm, but right now I go with what my nut says. I take: 1 prevacid every am (disolvable under the tongue) 1 viactive vitamin am and 1 pm (chewable) 1 viactive calcium am (chewable) Just thought it would be interesting to see, i have tingling in my hands and legs and I believe i may have some type of deficiency. xoxo Sheryl 265/220/???

Per the nutrition dept at my hospital, I take three viactiv's a day, and my surgeon's office gave me Vitamist to try (vitamins in spray form). I take a dissolvable B12 once a week, and I just started to take Vitamin C, 1000 mg a day (I've been low). Nexium twice a day.

I take 4 chewable Optisorce a day. Optisorce has everything we need in it. Calcium,B'ss,iron, I still take liquid B12 under my tonge everyday. I have been takeing the b12 before wls. In regards to the tingling thats going on with you I would up your B12. My mom had wls 4years ago and she has had bad bouts of the tingling in her lims I did some research and uped her b12 and bs.and it helped her. Talk to your DR. and dont let it go to long you could be damaging you nerve system. YOu take care. I wish you a most peaceful and blessed day. CHER -44

not to contradict your dr's orders or anything, but honestly you probably should be taking more supplements. the tingling definitely could be a sign of b-12 deficiency. my surgeon gives shots every 3 months b/c we so easily become deficient after surgery. also, i highly suggest taking calcium citrate, not viactiv. my surgeon recently changed his recommendation b/c calcium carbonate--the kind in viactiv or tums--needs stomach acid to be absorbed, which we don't have a lot of anymore. calcium citrate is much better for us. just make sure not to take it at the same time as any supplements with iron in them, they bond and don't absorb if you do. i get most of my vitamins from bariatricadvantage.com (no www) they're a little more expensive, but specially formulated for bariatric surgery patients. my daily supplement regimen-- 1 BA sublingual b-12 (also can get this at GNC) 2 chewable multi-vitamins 1 chewable iron i used to get chewable calcium citrate from them, but i prefer liquid. in addition to my BA vitamins, i take 1 tablespoon liquid calcium citrate w/magnesium (bariatriceating.com) 1 chewable vitamin c (walgreens) 1 biotin (for hair and skin, wal-mart) hope i helped!!

you're welcome. vista vitamins are good, but very expensive. bariatric advantage is a lot cheaper, which is why i chose them.

Wow, everyone is taking way more than I am. I take a Flintstone complete in the morning, one at night, and a sublinguil B12 about once a week. My surgeon said that should be ok. I just had my blood drawn at my regular doctor for the first time last week, so I'll see if there are any deficiencies. I have felt great, exercising everyday and lifting weights 3 times a week, so we'll see... Chris S.

1 prenatal multi vitamin (Rx) 3 chewable calcium citrates from Bariatric Advantage 2 tsp of liquid calcium (Tropical Oasis) -- I like liquid better, but it needs the 'fridge 1 Allergy A&D from Twin Labs I don't take B-12 because DS patients still absorb it from food. I also take one sythroid every morning. I don't think I'm missing anything because I feel pretty good. That said, I worry a lot about calcium -- am going to have a bone scan from my PCP this next month so they can make sure I'm not losing any bone. Best, Ezpy - who was told calcium carbonate won't work as well as citrate
