I had gallbladder surgery

Hey, everyone. I'm about 3 months post-op and I had to go in for emergency gallbladder removal last week at St. Luke's. Dr. Fang did the surgery. I'm healing good and am ready to go back to work as of Tuesday. Remember the chest pains I had a couple weeks ago - they were gallbladder pains. So my heart is fine!! Yay!! 3 months post op is kind of soon to be having gallbladder pains. Surgeon says that the stones were crystals about to form stones and they weren't there pre-op, but I wonder. How can they develop so fast when I am not eating fatty foods? Oh well......surgery is done and overwith. It was laproscopic and they were able to use two of the incisions they used for my RNY on it and they made two more incisions (less than 1/4") to remove gallbladder. Surgery took about 45 mins. Amazing what they can do laproscopically. Hugs, Trisha

I am happy to find that the pains were'nt because of your heart... It sucks that you had to go through another surgery so soon though. I had my gallbladder(it was full of stones) removed at the same time I had my gastric bypass and both were done laprascopically. I hope you have a fast recovery and am glad you were able to have it done laprascopically. Take care of yourself and get well soon Bonnie

So you must have lost another lb. or two...lol. They took mine during the RNY. I am so happy that won't happen to me. I am glad to hear it wasn't your heart. Hope you are feeling better soon!

glad to hear you're ok now, i know chest pains can be scary. i've heard of quite a few people having theirs taken out after 3 months, i think that's when it usually starts giving WLS'ers problems--it's not eating fatty foods that makes it go bad, it's losing weight rapidly. fatty foods just make the symptoms worse b/c it triggers the gallbladder to empty, which is painful when there's something wrong with it.

Nope, wasn't on any gallbladder meds post-op. Never heard of actigall. Are you still taking it? Is it OTC or RX?
