I have tried so many different brands of protein, Unjury (cramps my stomach), Met Rx - I have even tried Amino Acids (NASTY). Does anyone have any suggestions?? I had my surgery March 16 and have lost 65 pounds so far - so I am happy but I feel my weight loss is slowing down and my nutritionsit said - Protein, Protein, Protein!!! UGH!!! I do really well with EAS Advantage Vanilla flavored Protein Whey. You can get it at Walt-Mart and other places. I mix a scoop of it with 8 oz of Crystal Lite Sunrise Orange and it tastes like an Orange Julius. Actually I make up a 40 oz. container with two helpings, a little cranberry juice and tea to fill up the rest of the container and drink it all day long. I like the Whey powder because it dissolves and is very smooth. It's not expensive, so it wouldn't be a huge deal to try it. Hope something works soon for you!! Susie

UGH! I can't handle another EAS Advantage protein shake...choc or vanilla...mixed with milk, crystal lite, yogurt, pudding or anything else! I drank two a day for a month or so, but it was harder to stomach every day. I have about 8 pounds of the stuff left if you want it. Consequently, I'm having a very hard time getting any protein in. I'll eat mostly yogurts and cottage cheese...and occasional portion of chicken or turkey, but I'm not getting anywhere near 60-70 grams a day anymore. All of the protein bars I've tried are truly revolting! I'm very happy with my weight loss so far (60 pounds in 61 days) but I know I have to find a way to choke more protein down.

I eat one Odyssey Protein Bar a day. It's 30g of protein. They claim you can find these at Wal-Mart, but I never have. Instead, I order them through bariatriceating.com. Be careful, though: I've gotten nauseous if I eat them too fast. I take a bite every 15 minutes or so (takes about 2-3 hours to eat one that way) and have no problems. Buffalo burgers (yes, ground buffalo) are 46g each (they are dry, so I mix the meat with some low-carb BBQ sauce before reforming the patties.) You're looking at 4oz of meat, so if you can't handle that much at a time, think about two meals. If you like salmon, you can eat a 4oz ground salmon burger (see above) and get 24g protein. I'll usually moisten it after cooking with either a tiny spoonful of tartar sauce or some low-fat bleu cheese dressing. Chicken is also high in protein, but admittedly a bit hard to swallow. Get ground chicken or ground turkey, sauce it up with something low-fat, and you'll get a nice boost, there. Hope these help. Greg (342/265/178)

I buy Atkins advantage shakes. I get mine at Walmart and they have 20 grams of protein per can. Comes in 2 kinds of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. I like to stick mine in the freezer for about 1/2 an hour prior to drinking them. Not bad tasting and very nutritional. I like to eat chicken also. I get boneless skinless breasts and brown them in olive oil. Then put them in a crock pot and cover with can tomatoes green peppers and onions the chicken is moist and tender. I have no problems eating it this way. I do look for other advise on protein though. I think that is the secret in the weight loss. I am only 3 months out and already had a plateau. I read online here about the preaching of lots of protein so decided to concentrate on upping my intake and low and behold I am losing again. So I now make sure I drink at least one a day and sometimes 2 if I have a busy day and dont eat much. Lots of luck.

Melissa I have been using a product called Profect. It is only 2.7 ounces and packs a whopping 25 grams of protein. It comes in 4 flavors, Blue Raspberry Swirl, Citrus Berry, Cool Melon Slpash, and Grapefruit Mango. They come in a plastic vial that is virtually indestructable(sp). I like the first two flavors the best but can drink the others. You can buy a variety pack or just one flavor. They can be quite pricey unless you buy them by the case. I buy two cases at a time and it makes them cost about $2.50 each. They are very convenient to take with you, you can just toss a couple in your purse and go. They also have been approved by my surgeons dietician, I got the okay from her first. You can order online at protica.com, just put the www in front. I hope this helps, I know it has for me. I am like alot of others, a pantry full of unused protein products...LOL Awesome weightloss by the way! Keep up the good work! Mary

I really like the Adkins Advantage protein shakes also. I drink one of the Vanilla ones every morning for breakfast. Another thing that I recently discovered is at my health club. They have a "Smoothie King" counter there and they have low-carb smoothies. A twenty ounce smoothie has only 6 carbs and 35 grams of protein and doesn't taste like a protein shake at all. I like the strawberry myself. I don't know if there are any "Smoothie King" stores around anyone else, but I am sure any smoothie place will have or will soon have this low carb smoothie. Chris S.

Hi Melissa, I have tried a bunch of these products too. The easiest to get down without wanting to throw-up has been Nectar Whey Protein. 2 scoops gives 46 Gms of protein per 8 oz of water. you can mix it with juice or Crystal Light as well. I also use Power Crunch bars. Good luck on your quest to find the protein right for you. Huggs, Karen
