EXERCISE...what ya'll doing???
WOW... you are doing great on the exercise.... I guess we all want to lose it quickly huh??? As for having far to go, at 5 foot tall, I was at 344 at my highest weight and at 310 before surgery.... last Weds I weighed in at 277.... so I am NOT a lightweight and I have LOTS to lose...... good luck on your journey...
Hello,
Prior to last week I had been walking a few days a week. Then last Sunday I started walking 1/2 hour in the morning and 1/2 hour in the evening. I've lost 6 lbs since then for a total of 66 lbs. I hadn't changed anything in my eating plan, so I attribute the lost to the exercise.
Good Luck

I started exercising from the day I got home from the hospital. I have just been walking, and go between 2-3 miles each time. I have been averaging 4-5 times/week. About 2 weeks ago I added weight training and have been lifting 3 times a week also (I alternate weightlifting, then next day walking, then back to weightlifting). I do think exercising is critical to this process and I feel like I have 12 months of weightloss opportunity, and the clock is ticking so I want to take maximum advantage of it. I still have so much to go. Hope this helps!

Harolyn,
I'm actually only down 28 since surgery and 25 before for a total of 53. I had a six week plateau in there. I just did my once a week weigh-in and I didn't lose anything. Don't let it get you down. I've noticed my clothes have been looser in the last week and I'm getting lots of compliments: "You look great!" really makes my day.
I exercise for 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. I do something called chairdancing because I have no cartilage in my right knee (the other has been replaced) and it's painful just to walk. I really work up a sweat with the exercise. It was recommended by my exercise physiologist. After my 3 month appointment I will be able to lift weights. (Dr. told me resistance exercise too early could cause a hernia or other healing problems.) I plan to add water aerobics next week 2 times a week.
I think age unfortunately is all part of this slowness. I'm 57. I have also lost more than 100 pounds 6 times since 1982. I have really messed up my metabolism, so that's part of the reason for the slowness. I also have less to lose than some people: about 165 pounds and men lose faster.

First of all, NO WAY do you look 57.... WOW... you look great and obvisously have only a little to lose..... And yes, I can relate to the yo yo weight loss and what it does to our metabolisms....YIKES, I went on a starvation diet just prior to the surgery and I think that affected some of my slow loss. But I am exercising more and hope to pick it back up ...... good luck to you, Donna.......... hang in there!!!!
I am 2 months out as well , surgery on March 30th. I have lost a total of 60 pounds. I go to Lady Fitness (identical to Curves) at least 4-5 days a week and on weekends I walk about 2 miles both Saturday and Sunday. I eat foods high in protein and I drink lots of water and diet snapple, and pop sickles. I don't use any caffeine at all. My weight loss stalled many times, for a few weeks I didn't shed not one pound. It has just started to pick up again. I noticed that my weight comes off faster when I just walk but I loose inches when I go to Lady Fitness.
