I am 2 months out and have only lost 33 pds since the surgery....plus the 27 before , brings my total to 60 !!! But I am discouraged by the slow loss since the surgery and I am wondering how much you guys are exercising and how often.... I have read where some haven't even started using the exercise programs, ect and others are exercising like mad!!!!! help me get an idea of how much I should be doing by now... I had the OPEN RNY with NO complications... thank GOD!!! HELP!!!!

Hi....we are surgery twins! I am not losing fast either. I have lost 43 lbs since surgery and have had 2 plateau's that seem to last about 10 days each time. I get frustrated too because it is so much slower than others are doing. I am 50 yrs old and the doc told me that the older you are the slower you seem to lose but he said it will come off! Infact he told me to expect 109 lbs lost from surgery and the rest is up to me! I am walking and using my eliptical machine and try to do that at least 4 times a week. I figured it all out one day and was surprised to see that I had taken in 479 calories, 40 cabs and 53 grams of protein plus my water. I think maybe I take in too many carbs. I think our weight loss is great and we should both be proud of ourselves. Whatever happened with your husbands surgery? Did the doctor finally agree to do it? (I was reading your profile) You keep up the good work and don't compare yourself to anyone else! I think you are doing wonderful. Slower weight loss might mean less hanging skin????? I am hoping! Hugs, Roxi

Honestly I havent been excersizing as much as I should... but I do a video called WALK AWAY THE POUNDS and I also like swimming and walking on the treadmill or just going for a walk outside. I feel so much better when I excersize because it makes me feel like I'm doing something good for myself! I hope you find something you like and eventually you will get into the groove of things Bonnie

Hi Bonnie, glad to see you doing so well........... didn't you have to go back to the hospital recently or am I mixed up.... well, either way... thanks for the encouragement.... and yes, I hope I can get motivated to get on a regular schedule... maybe I should put myself on a Behavorial modification program.... no SF popsycles until I exercise....

Hi, I had my surgery on 3/11, and I am down 40, despite the fact that I walk from two to six miles about 4 days/week. I will still go for a week or so at a time without losing anything after every few pounds, even though I am walking as usual. I haven't had any complications either, whew! How much do you have to lose total? They say that the lower weight you start at, the slower you lose... (I started with 107 to lose) Good luck to you!
