3 week plateau.... getting nervous
Hi Everyone!!
My surgery date was 3/16 so I am 10 weeks postop. I have lost 51lbs so far, which I am thrilled about but I havent lost anything in the last 3 weeks and I am getting paranoid. I really dont feel as though I am eating all that much. Trying to drink the right things. I have read that many are experiencing these plateaus as well, guess I am just afraid that I am failing.
You are not the only one. I was stuck for 2 weeks too. I was getting worried that I was doing something wrong but this morning when I put on smaller pants to go to work that were tight 2 weeks ago THEY FIT ME!!!! So I am guessing I am shifting the weight around. I didn't lose anything but something happened so maybe that is what is happening to you now too. Don't give up we didn't get fat over night we are sure not going to lose it over night either.

First of all, congrats on the 51lbs in 10 weeks. That is wonderful progress.
Have you tried varying your diet, I've found that sometimes I end up eating the same things over and again and your body gets adjusted to that and the scale won't move.
Are you exercizing? If so, try bumping up the amount of time you spend at the gym if possible. Also, make sure you get your protein first and formost, at least 50 grams per day (or whatever your surgeon recommends).
Hang in there, you're doing great and you will break this plateau.

Are you measuring yourself? You might be losing inches if you aren't losing pounds.
I stalled for about 2 weeks myself and the scale FINALLY started moving down this week. People in my support groups tell me stalls are normal even this early on. I'm like NOOOOOOO! LOL
Your body is just adjusting to the 51 lbs lost. It's wondering what is going on here....something's missing....where'd those fat cells go????
So hang in there!! You aren't alone. I've experienced a couple stalls myself. You will lose again!! You are NOT failing. It's impossible to fail this early on.
Hugs,
Trisha
Robin,
Not to worry. I had surgery on March 17, lost 15 pounds in the two weeks after surgery and then proceeded to lose northing for the next 6 weeks. The next week I lost 10, but things have slowed down again. One pound last week and 2 pounds the week before. The bottom line is we are all different. I exercise, eat the right foods and the right amounts, drink a ton of water, take my vitamins. My doctor told me I'm doing everything right. I just have to be patient. I have taken to paying more attention to how my clothes fit and the inches I lose. I got a real boost yesterday when I pulled out the clothes that are now to big and separated them into two piles: "Still Nice Enough to Give to Someone" and "For the Trash."
I also lost 25 pounds before surgery, so I'm down 53 in total and I'm very grateful. I really think my weight loss is slow because I'm older (57) and because years of yo-yo dieting (I've lost 100+ pounds 6 times in my life and gained it all back).
