I am 11 weeks out and was curious if anyone has tried any kind of nuts yet? I thought that might be a good source of protein as well as a nice snack to have. At my son's baseball games a lot of the parents eat sunflower seeds and I wondered about them as well. Anyone tried these things? Chris S.

I have had nuts, I don't really like the Planters nuts because they aren't boiled/roasted as long as the one Frito Lay one. My doctor doesn't like for me to have more than three meals a day, not even a snake, but he did say if I had to have something that I should have nuts (just a havd full) for the protein; careful they are hight in calories. SO...enjoy!

I buy the nuts in the shell. There better for you they dont have alot of fat in them and by time you get one shell open you have already swallowed . It makes it hard to eat fast, wich is my problem I try but it is hard to eat slow when you are sitting there watching tv and not paying attention to what you are doing. good luck Chris lol

I"ve had peanut butter if that counts???? LOL.. As far as the sunflower seeds--I would be careful. My doc suggested waiting on seeds because they are harder to digest and can get easily stuck. Just some 'food' for thought! LOL (get it? fooood for though? huh? not funny..oh shucks!) Courtney

I've tried almonds, cashews, pistachios and macadamia nuts. The first time I tried them, I had a problem with gas, but recently they've been OK. Good luck. Cheryl

I'm nuts over nuts, hehe. I especially like pistachios, and the time it takes me to get the shell open and the skin off helps keep me from eating too fast. Just make sure you chew them really well, especially sunflower seeds b/c they have the sharp points. I have had pistachios, sunflower seeds, peanuts, pecans, almonds, brazil nuts, and cashews without any problems. I did notice that nuts, especially pistachios, make me really gassy, but not in a stinky way, hehe. I eat nuts probably every other day, I think that's why I've been so regular lately. I think the trick with fibrous foods is to take special care and chew well.

Chris, My son also plays baseball, and I eat Sunflower seeds about 4 x/week. No problems, and they actually have some protein in them. I only eat one at a time, and they are so small, that by the time you chew them, there is no way to get stuck. Have fun, Nikki Y.

I'm practically living on peanuts, pistachios, and sunflower seeds. Just chew really well. Nuts and seeds were one of the first things I could have, starting two weeks out. Dr. says they are a wonderful source of protien, and sunflower seeds are also high in potassium. Good luck, Billie

Nuts are the only source of protein I have been able to swallow and keep down, excepting proteing shakes (yuck). When I kept throwing everything up my doctor suggested cashews because they are much like a puree once you chew them.
