Hi all, Well I didn't know if I would get through this whole process unscathed and maybe I haven't because the past two days i've felt like crappola!! I'll be 3 weeks post-op this Friday and my dr told me that I could eat pretty much what I wanted if I felt like I could handle it. So this week i've been eating peanut butter, yogart, chicken chili, fudge pops, vienna sauage-chicken, and not drinking as much as I should be. The past two days i've been constipated and have felt like a rock was sitiing in my belly, and sooooooooo bloated!!! I've taken MoM last night and tonight and i'm starting to go but i'm also starting my monthly. I was wondering if any of you have felt like this. I'm not sure if i'm eating a little too solid of a food too soon, too much too soon, or what. I have always been pretty regular with my bms usually daily so if I don't go in at least 2 days i'm very uncomfortable. I know these aren't the most pleasant topics of convo but sometimes it's just gotta be asked ya know. Any help in this will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Hi Kristy, I can totally relate! What has been working for me is to keep myself super well hydrated, at least 64 oz per day of fluids (I just drink water). If I am short even one day, I can tell it in my tummy, I get that full, bloated feeling. YUCK. But the digestive system needs lots of water for things to keep moving easily. My surgeon also recommends a stool softener which helps. Some foods are naturally constipating, such as nuts (including peanut butter) and cheeses, so you might want to go easy on those until you are further along if you are having trouble staying "regular." Good lord, I can't believe this is the third post I have made today about POOP. Heh! Oh well. It's true, poop happens!

Kristy-- I totally understand. I too had been doing great and started to feel like crap. Turns out that I had a stricture. Before that however, I did end up getting contipated and I had problems swallowing a stool softner, so my doctor had recommended a suppository, which seemed to do the trick. He did note however, that if you start to have diahrea (I know I spelled that wrong) to call him right away. Esp if you aren't drinking enough because once dehydration sets in, it's hard for us to play catch up. I hope you feel better soon! --Courtney

Kristy, Are you taking fiber either chewables or powder? That can help with the constipation. Just be sure to check the sugar content so you don't end up dumping. I'm really surprized that your doctor told you to eat anything at 3 weeks out. What procedure did you have, lap band or rny? Make sure you don't eat more than your pouch will hold, usually about one or one and a half ounces. Also, make sure you chew your food to the consistency of a puree, that will help it move through your system easier. If all else fails, go back to a liquid diet for a couple days and check with your doctor. He will have the best answers for your questions. Good luck, hope you feel better soon. Toni
