Have any of you had movie popcorn yet since surgery? I haven't. I'm 2 months post-op and wanted to have some this weekend at the movies. Should I wait a bit longer? I can't find any info on popcorn in my nutrition info binder. Please advise. Let me know your experience. Thanks!

I have had the white cheddar popcorn, the only complication I had was getting the kernals stuck between my braces... Yummm Yummm

Our nutritional department recommends not eating popcorn, as kernels can get stuck in the pouch, requiring a hospital trip to dislodge them.

He Trish...Congrats on the BIG loss for 2 months! I have had a handful of popcorn 2x since surgery. (I know probably not a GREAT choice) but it helped the craving! The awesome thing about it is, you can only eat a tiny bit!! I even drank some Iced Tea with it and still could only eat a bit! So, I say enjoy just a bit! When I asked my Doc's office, they said try it once and then you'll know! jk

I had some at the movies last weekend, I was kinda shocked at how much I could eat (that whole problem where you're watching the movie and not how much food you're eating) and was a little uncomfortable after taking a bite too many, but it went down fine and actually helped my constipation issues. Next time I'm going to pour some out onto a napkin and let my husband mindlessly eat the rest of the bag, hehe. I would definitely avoid the "butter" (if you can call it that) b/c of the fat content. This is supposedly the nutrition data on 1 cup of movie theatre popcorn (from calorie king--they list a serving as 16 cups so i had to do some math) Calories 70 Total Fat 5.4 g 8% Saturated Fat - 0% Cholesterol - 0% Sodium - 0% Total Carbohydrates 4.2 g 1% Dietary Fiber 1.2 g 5% Sugars - Protein 1.2 g

I had some last weekend too, and it was really yummy. I too was suprised at how much I could eat, and I was paying attention. I have a friend who is 1 year out and she eats it all the time, but just like all food, chew it throughly.

I have also tried it, and was amazed at how much I ate...and no problems with it. I also try to pick the big hulls out before it goes down the hatch Nancy

Trisha, My book says to wait 3 months post-op. Just hang in there, it won't be much longer. Billie

Hey Billie...what book is that? I could definitely use some food ideas on what is a good amount of time to wait before trying...

Hey Trisha! I've tried it a couple of times and haven't had any problems. My hubby and I just went to the movies last weekend and had some. YUMMY! Hugs Kim
