Bad Time...

Hey everyone--I haven't been here in a few days because I've been having a very difficult time again. Earlier in the week, I had an all time record for me--3 days without vomiting. Then, the other morning I woke up and started vomiting. Of course, without food in my stomach, I just had horrible foamies with lots of dry heaving. I couldn't get anything down and called the doc. We figured it might be constipation, so I took a suppository and finally went to the bathroom. However, I still feel like absolute crap, have been out of work for a few days and I can't take it anymore. Not to bring anyone down, but I regret doing this surgery. I don't care anymore how much weight I've loss--I am sick and tired of feeling like crap. I feel like I take a step forward and then 3 steps back. It's hard for me to see ahead anymore--I"m so bogged down with how sucky my life is right now, I don't care about how I"ll feel in 6 months. I'm sick and tired on how unmanagable my body is. I"m not talking like I want to go and eat a hamburger--I want to be able to eat something and KNOW that it is going to agree with me. Right now, that doesn't happen. Sometimes things work, and other days the same thing won't work. Some times WATER doesn't work!!! How can that be? I mean my body is 80% water!!! I'm just sick of being tired and tired of being sick. I don't know how everyone else is doing, but I've had it and I"m sorry to say that I wish I could quit. I acutally have fears that I am doing to die of malnutrition. My body isn't supposed to live like this. I"m having a breakdown. I just had to vent....Thanks for reading... Courtney

Courtney, I am sooo sorry to hear that you are having these problems. Can't your doctor give you a suppository to help with the nausea? I know alot of people talk about having to take them after this surgery for a couple months. You might want to ask your DR. I wish I had some magical words of encouragement that would make you feel better, but unfortunatly when you feel like crap there is not a whole lot anyone can say to change that. Hang in there. I will be praying that you feel better soon. Hugs, Jodi

I know exactly what you are feeling. My surgery was a week after you and I get the same thing. All I can tell you is it is normal as per my doctor. Try eating slower and softer foods. Back track to liquids for a few days. Also when it is bad I try something warm in my stomach. The doctor told me it was alot of gas that causes the foamies. Following her suggestions it has improved alot. I have days where all I will do is foam. I look back at what I ate and usually I can find the problem. Good luck and hang in there. Don't regret trying to get healthy because of a few small set backs.

i am so sorry you're having such a rough time. i just wanted to say that i've heard that drinking warm liquids (like herbal tea) help with foaming, maybe you should try that before you eat? hope things start looking up for you soon!! michelle

Hey Courtney, I'm so sorry that you're not feeling well. It must be pure hell for you. I can't eat very much at all yet either and I get the vomiting and dry heaves as well. But I'm not sorry I had the surgery and I'm so sad that you are. I pray things will get much much better for you and try the warm herb tea thing. That does help with me. Take Care, Deborah W.

Courtney, I almost could have written your post myself! We had surgery the same day and I have been having the same problems! I have just gone two days without throwing up and I am excited. I was throwing up even liquids like you too. I knew when that happened that I was getting dehydrated and I ended up in the ER. Now that I am not dehydrated, I am focusing on just liquids and attempting food just once a day. I can only eat maybe one bite of chicken or tuna and it makes me feel full for hours. I am keeping a log of what I eat, when I throw up, and how long I feel full afterwards. I am pretty sure that this indicates a stricture. My doctor is about to have a baby so I am going to have to see her partner about it. I know it is frustrating to feel like you are out there by yourself being sick while everyone else is reveling in their weight loss. The gal that had surgery with me the same day was eating rotisserie chicken two weeks after surgery fine and dandy while I was puking 3-5 times a day. Try not to judge the experience right now. Talk to your doctor again and again. No one knows your body like you. I hope you start feeling better soon! Annie

Courtney, Your experience sounds so familiar to mine. My doc wants me to see an ENT to rule out sinus problems (post nasal drip) too much "drip" going into the pouch and when I eat my pouch is already full of mucus so I vomit it all up. I didn't vomit since Sunday YEAH but I know I will soon. I tried taking pepcid and claritin D they didn't help but LEVSIN does help some. Don't get frustrated to bad it too shall pass and you will eventually feel so much better. Try eating slow and sipping hot tea while you eat. I know this is a big no no but it does help me and my DOC told me to try it it helps break down the built up mucus in my pouch. Best of Luck to you and we are all here if you need us. Dawn
