Hi Everyone! I just recently discovered this message board and I wish I would've sooner! It's nice to read posts from people who are going through the same things you are at the same time. It will be 7 weeks tomorrow since my surgery and I'm down 37 lbs and I feel great! I just have a couple of questions though. I'm getting 64 - 80oz of fluid in a day but it's in the form of Crystal Light or Propel. Is that OK? I LOVED water pre-op but for some reason, I can't tolerate water post-op. It doesn't agree with my pouch. Is this normal? Oh and I would really like to spruce up my profile.......I've seen some of your profiles and they are really neat! I remember reading a "how to" post on the main message board a couple of weeks ago saying there was some sort of questionaire thing you have to fill out but I can't find the post now. Could someone point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it! Good luck to everyone and thanks in advance for your help Jennifer 276/239/145

Welcome Jennifer, Congratulations on the weight loss. You are doing wonderful. I seem to have trouble getting more than 60 oz. a day personnally, but that is getting easier, so maybe I'll catch up with you soon. I had surgery on 3-28, so I was 7 wks as of Monday and down 41 lbs. As far as the liquid goes from what my surgeon and his staff tell me, the change in taste (even for water) is not uncommon. He says flavored water (such as propel) or crystal light is just as good as water. They told me the main thing is low/no calorie and sugar free liquid. I hope that helps, sounds like you are doing great. Keep it up, Billie

I've heard of some folks having difficulty with warm/cold fluids... you may want to try room temp water (if you're drinking cold, otherwise do the opposite and try cold water if you are drinking warm). I discovered Nestle Pure Life water, it is flavored with Splenda and takes the monotony (sic?) out of drinking water. Anyhoo congrats on the weightloss and keep trying to get the fluids.

My understanding is also that it's just important to get those liquids down, so if it's Crystal Light or Propel, that's cool. And Propel has extra good stuff, right? I have to try it. Here's my irony. I never liked drinking water. Post-surgery, I'm preferring it to Crystal Light, etc. Go figure!

Jennifer, Welcome, my surgery was the day after yours and I am the oposite- water seems to be the one things that goes down good for me- as far as liquids go. As of this morning, I am down 40 pounds but I started higher than you. The dietitian at my surgeons office said 48-60 oz a day in any form- water, Crystal Light, decaf tea. Sounds to me like you are doing great! Terri

My surgeon advocates Propel, since it has added vitamins. Water+Flavor+Vitamins=Awesome! I drink plain water at work (we have a cooler, can't pass up free bottled water) but I drink Propel mostly at home. I spruced up my profile on my own, I'm not a web designer by any means but I make do. HTML tags work in our profiles, so if you know anything about HTML or are interested in learning, it's quite easy. Do a search for Webmonkey, they have a neat HTML cheatsheet that has a lot of your basic tags (such as background, image linking, font, colors, etc.). Looks like we're right on the same track, congrats on your loss! Michelle 277/240/150

Welcome, aBOARD! Congrats on 37 lbs!! Yay! Crystal Light and Propel are GREAT and count as water. It's common for some WLS to not tolerate plain water too well after surgery. I've heard that from a LOT of people. So flavored water is great. You can also get those flavor-to-go packets from Walmart (walmart brand) to add to a bottle of water. They are great!! For website help, just write to [email protected]. To add a photo to your posts and profile, send a photo to [email protected]. They get HUNDREDS of requests, so be patient. It might take a few weeks. Glad you are here!! I agree, this board is great because we are all around the same stage post-op. I love it!! Hugs, Trisha -56 lbs

Thanks everyone for your responses! I'm relieved to know that Crystal Light and Propel are ok for my daily fluids. And heck, I've been drinking a lot of the Propel and didn't even realize I was getting all that good stuff too! And Trisha, YES, I've tried the Walmart brand "sugar free to go" packets and I LOVE them! This week I just tried the fruit punch and I'm hooked. Thanks again Jennifer 276/239/145

Welcome!!! I'm like you. I used to like water, but I can "taste" it too much now. The chemicals, the minerals.... ick... I have found Crystal lite is ok, but I was never able to get any where close to 60oz, till I started drinking sugar free Kool Aid. It is sweet, but I love it. I can drink it with no problem. FYI-Fluid is fluid. Tea, Kool Aid, Propel, Milk, V8 Juice, etc.... If it is a liquid, it counts.
