6 wks out only -24
Bonnie,
Thanks for the encouragement. It's hard to get out of the mind set of "eat less and you'll lose weight". I really tried hard the last couple of days to get in the protein and fluids and it did make a difference. I am sometimes eating a protein snack at midnight, but I'm getting it in. Normally I just would have called it a day and gone to bed. I'm down a few more pounds, so I think that's the ticket.

I too lost 30 pds right before surgery on a liquid diet....... and since surgery on 3/28/05 I have only lost 20 pds... I thought I was the only one...... or one of the very few..... but maybe not.... NOW what I am trying to think is that I now have a tool....... I will lose weight and keep it off and I will learn to be better to myself........ I keep repeating this to myself...... and that makes "only 20 pds" not seem so bad........ because this is not a DIET its a lifestyle..... so I don't have to "hurry".... good luck to us ALL>>>>>>>>>
I really paid attention to my quantities the last couple of days and it has made a difference for me. I got in at least 64 oz of fluids and a minimum of 60g of protein (75 would be better, but I'm not there yet). I've dropped 3 pounds in the last couple of days. I also made sure to get my walk in too!
Good Luck to you too!

Hi Suzanne....I had major constipation problem as well..So bad in fact I called my doctor on the weekend because I was scared. I went to Walmart and bought suppositories and they worked great. But remember you don't go as often or as much anymore because of your intake. I usually only have a bm every 2-3 days now and not a lot...What a subject, but I know what you mean....
Constipation is causing you not to lose. That's normal. Go to walmart and buy some Milk of Magnesia - I like the wild cherry flavor. That'll do the trick (a little too well!!).
I didn't lose for about 2 weeks myself when I went to soft/pureed foods, and even GAINED 5 lbs!! So you are not alone. Hang in there. Remember, your body is in shock and trying to preserve itself by holding onto "pounds". Once your body knows you are okay, it'll release the pounds.
Kudos on focusing on protein! That's great!!! The more protein you take in the more you'll lose.
Also, are you taking calcium CITRATE? Hi-Health sells a CHEWABLE wafer kind that is very good. We only absorb 500mg of calcium at a time, so space the wafers out during the day between meals for maximum absorption. And don't take calcium with things that have iron in it because they cancel each other out.
Hope that helps! You are doing great! Hang in there!
Thanks for the info and then encouragement. I am taking my calcium and I know that can also cause constipation problems for some. I'm so glad that I don't have to talk iron because I already know that would cause me a lot of trouble too.
ISOPURE drinks seem to be my biggest help right now to get in all my protein. with just the one drink, I can get in more than 1/2 of the protein I need in a day!
