Suzanne, my email address is [email protected] I would love you to email what that protein is and if you know where to get it. Thanks alot,
Jodi
Jodi,
Here is the info that I saw on the CA message board.
ProStat liquid. Each little 30ml cup is 15 grams of protein. The taste is not all that great, but for me it's so much easier than trying to get a whole shake down twice a day.

Suzanne, I'm seven weeks out and have lost nada, zilch, zero for the last 5 weeks. In the first two I lost 15. (The good news is that I lost 25 in the two months leading up to the surgery). I know how hard it is to patient, but ya just gotta believe it will happen. Maybe you're like me and fear you will be the 1 person for whom this doesn't work in spite of doing everything "right." I've been told by my doctor's nurse and other people in my program not to worry about not being able to get all the liquid and protein in. That will come in time. I like the suggestion about the straw tho.
I've been given a lot of reasons why my weight loss may have slowed down -- among them: I've lost a total of 40 lbs. and often the body will start to fight to keep the fat around thinking it's starving; I'm retaining a lot of water (swollen ankles, etc); I'm building muscles because I'm exercising strenuously for 35 minutes 5 days a week.
I lost 24 pounds before surgery and as of this morning, I'm not 2 pounds giving me a grand total of 50 pound! I know this will work and I just have to be patient. I was just a little bummed after reading all the posts yesterday. I've never lost 50 pounds before in my entire life!
I'm trying to make sure I get my exercising in and am going to try a new routine.
One thing I did, is I got in 59g of protien adn 41oz of water. That is the bare minimum of what I needed, but It I hadn't made that last effort after my post, It would have been even lower.

Hi Suzanne,
Your story sounds just like mine...My surgery was March 29th. I had my 1 month check up last Thursday, and I am also down 20 lbs. My nurse said to me "when was the last time you lost 20lbs in 1 month?" To me that kind of put it into perspetive. And constipation, I'm right there with you! And I do get my liquids in..could do better on exercising, but we will get there...some just quicker than others!
Nancy
Nancy,
I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. I don't think I'm doing bad, but of course I would like to be like the others that are losing so fast. I can really tell the difference in the way my clothes fit and that is fun.
I had a problem with constipation when I went on a protein drink diet prior to surgery. I told my nurse that the protein bars (with malitol) where helping to keep me regular. She suggested that I eat a couple of pieces of sugar free candy every day... I like that kind of advice
That helped a little, but not enough. I'm trying to get in some fiber (veggies and hi fiber crackers). I recently started taking colace, so we'll see how that works.

Ok I have to say what my dr told me and hope it will make you feel better. He told me that weight loss really depends alot on fluid intake and protien taken in daily the more you take in the more you lose. Also said that that men do lose faster than women and that the bigger you are the faster you will lose at first so dont be discouraged I think you are doing a great Job keep it up.

Bear,
Yeah I know you guys lose faster
I'm making a real effort to up my proteins and fluids. I think it's making a difference. I am one of those people that weigh everyday (I'm a programmer and I like numbers) I like to see the trend in my weightloss. I tend to flucuate between a few pounds day to day and then gradually the scale moves down to the next few lower numbers. This morning, I saw a number on my scale that I have never seen before. That's encouraging. I will be estatic if I see it again tomorrow, but if my past history follows, I won't see it again for another day or so and then I'll see it consistently.

285/234 (I saw it today, so I'm counting it)/135
24 pounds is great!! I think it will take awhile to get on track as far as getting all of your water in as well as meals. Do the best you can and you will eventually find a schedule that works for you. Your water intake is very important so if at all possible try and keep a water bottle with you. Hang in there. We all go through different plateaus and it can be very frustruating and discouraging but you will get through it! Hang in there and I wish you much success in the future
