When can we start eating salad
I had surgery on 3/3/05. I have been eating lettuce for about 3 weeks now, but I find that rather then eat it ice cold it is better at room temp or I even pop it in the micro for 20 seconds. I also chew it very well. I don't eat any skins or seeds like cucumbers, peppers or tomatoes, so I don't even add them to my salad but the lettuce alone helped me with my craving for salad again. Hope that helped!

I guess I'm luckier than most. I had my surgery on 3/28/05 and I tried my first salad this past Sunday. My doctor had allowed me to go to my stabilization phase a month early because I am doing so well adjusting to the foods. I am still very careful as to what I eat however and the amounts. I did try cucumbers (just a few small pieces), tomatoes, mushrooms and a few peppers (yellow bell peppers) and had no problems with them. Just try things one at a time like I'm doing. Good luck!!
I was told after 3 months post-op. But remember, FILL your salad with protein. Make PROTEIN the priority in your meals!! It'll make a difference in how you feel emotionally and physically. Make everything you put in your mouth count- no empty calories!
I was WEIRDLY craving salads too about a month post-op. I'm like, why am I craving a salad???? LOL When I do have them again, I am going to make sure I LOAD it up with protein. So very important.
