Hi Everyone
I'm new to this board. I had a RNY on March 7, 2005. I've only lost 27 lbs. Everyone else seems to have lost so much more than me. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. I know that there have been other posts about slow weight loss, so I'm sorry for revisiting the subject.
I haven't been exercising as much as I should. My 9 month old baby has been sick for a month, and I've been sick for the last 2 weeks. I plan on stepping that up as soon as my sinus & ear infections have subsided.
I guess I just needed to find some support. I've been feeling really, really down.
Hope you guys are doing well after surgery, and I look forward to getting to know you.

I had my surgery on 3/14 and I've lost only 26 lbs. My BMI postop was similar to yours, 5'2" and 238 lbs. We are both considered "lightweights" for the surgery. Imagine that!!!! I understand from the reading the MB that we will lose slower than others. If you think about it, based on % of body weight, we've both lost over 10% in the first month. That's pretty good! I go almost a week without losing and then I may lose 2-3 lbs overnight.

Sunny,
I know how you feel. I posted the smae question (discouragment) yesterday. I had my surgery 3/30/05 and am down 17 pounds. I really thought the weighloss would be faster. People reminded me that its very normal for us to lose then stall then for it to pick up again. You are probably considered a "lightweight" starting off as I am and it just doesn't come off as fast as say you weighed 3 or 4 hundred pounds. Just stick to your doctors orders and eventually it has to start coming off. Hang in there. Everybody tells me to work the tool and the tool will work for you. Good Luck
Hugs,
Jodi
P.S. your not far from me, I live in San Luis Obispo(Templeton)
I agree with everyone else. Lower BMIs lose more slowly. Look at the bright side, with slower weight loss and exercising your skin is likely to be tighter than with a fast weight loss. I am also losing slowly but I have a higher BMI. I've stopped weighing myself and am enjoying how my clothes feel and fitting in to smaller ones. I think the advice to use a measuring tape and keep track of changes in inches makes a lot of sense.
Hi Sunshine! (Love the name btw...)
I had my surgery on 3-11, and am down 28 pounds. I too am considered a 'lightweight' if you can imagine having to lose a hundred pounds being considered that. Like you, I am a little discouraged. I have been exercising (walking, weight training) at least 4 times/week, and am trying hard to get in all the protein and water. Thank you for this post, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one on the slow side. Keep up the good work!

Sunny-
27 pounds is awesome!! Everyone loses weight at a different rate because we are all DIFFERENT. You can't go by what anyone else has lost but yourself. We are all going to go through plateaus and it can get very frustruating. Keep your focus ahead on your journey and feel thankful that you will never see those 27 pounds again!! I hope you feel better and I hope your baby is better as well. Try and keep a positive attitude and whenever you need someone we are all here!! Take care of yourself and be proud of what you have accomplished so far
