What a week. Today I have not been able to eat or drink anything and have it stay down. I tried to eat 1 scrambled egg this morning but after about 4 bits, it came up. Once I got settled down, I tried just drinking some water in order to get my liquids in, but in just came up also. Help! So far today, I've had no liquids or protein. What to do?

I would give my surgeon a call, if I were you. Sometimes, you can get a stricture at the top of the pouch that prevents food and water from being swallowed. It causes vomiting and is usually seen about 3-4 weeks after surgery. It's easily fixed. If it was just food giving you a problem, I probably wouldn't be as concerned, but since you can't keep water down either, it's worth giving your surgeon a call.

I also have trouble with eggs. After 2 bites I feel full and as if they are stuck in my esophogus. I ate a hard boiled egg and discovered something interesting and counterintuitive: it's the white part and not the yolk that's making me uncomfortable.

Hi Suzy, I too have had trouble with nothing staying down for an entire day. What a terrible feeling. It didn't matter if it was food or liquid. Since moving to soft/pureed food I have had some problems but nothing like that one day. Everything is fine again for me and when I called the doc's office they told me to be sure I did baby sips and to use a baby spoon so that I would have to take really tiny bites. I have followed that advice and don't know that it has made a difference but I do know that that if I eat too fast or try to drink too soon after I eat I get that terrible pain in my chest and then want to puke it all up. If your problem is still continuing please call the doc to check for a stricture. Good Luck! Let us know how you are. Roxi
