HELP! how to take urso forte 500mg pills?
Hello all,
I have to take the pills to prevent gallbladder stones. But I just can't take the taste (very bitter) in puddings etc... anyone else have this problem? How did you deal with it? Is there an liquid equivalent? What of alternative treatments? I will ask my surgeon since I go on the 26th. But thought I would ask you all first. I don't want to have the gallbladder go also since that means another surgery.
I'm surprised the surgeon didn't take the gallbladder at the time of your surgery. (At least gallbladder surgery is pretty much a non-event. I was back to normal the day after.) I have a very bitter pill I have to take also. Yukky. Check with your pharmacist to find out if your medicine is available in a liquid form. However, it's not likely to taste any better.
I put juice in my mouth first and then drop the pill in the juice and swallow quickly.
I used to watch my husband take vitamins this way and thought it was very strange, but now it is a life saver. I rarely taste the pill.
I kept my gall bladder as well, figured there was no reason to take it if it was healthy. Figured it was there for a good reason.
You can call your surgeon before the 26th and ask if you like. I've had to call my surgeon a few times post-op to ask questions. I am able to swallow pills if I break them in 1/2. I'm not sure how big that pill is you are taking, but you may not have to cru**** anymore. Try breaking it in 1/2 or 1/3 and swallow it with water or juice, wait an entire minute, then do another swallow with water or juice.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will try breaking it up smaller and see how that goes instead of crushing! Yuck! this is awful! By the way does anyone know if there is a liquid form of this medication?
Thanks to you all for your suggestions, sometimes it feels like I am the only one going through this but then I realize that someone else is also out there with my same problem and some solution.
