1/2 deviled egg
I had fun today at the store. I felt like eating a deviled egg. The store sells them 3 halves for $1.00 and I ordered one half. They said, "Just one?" I smiled and wanted to tell them I had bariatric surgery and that was all I need. But I just nodded and smiled to myself. I couldn't even eat the whole thing. Wow was it ever different than before when I wanted a whole dozen! It's a great lifestyle! Hugggs, Heidi
Heidi--that is great! Good for you that you just ordered what you wanted. I had a similiar experience where I went out will some friends. I had to ask the waitress for 1 hotdog, no bun, no fries, and a small side of peas. She looked at me like I was NUTS. Not to mention the fact I only ate half the hot dog! I"m glad that you were able to enjoy your egg--I hope I get to that point soon!! Keep up the great work!

Isn't it wonderful? I am 5 weeks post op now and still trying to adjust to not being able to eat! I am having trouble getting the food, protein and fluids in every day and when I think about what I could eat in one day before it just amazes me. My sister had her surgery in September and yesterday we went out to eat. We shared an order of chicken fingers and couldn't come close to finishing them. We each had one( I ate about half of mine) and gave the rest to her son! In the past we would have eaten those 5 plus an order of fries and thought nothing of it!
I had a couple of deviled egg halves today. I am on a quest to find an egg I can eat. I've had scrambled eggs twice and after two bites I felt full, like the eggs were sitting in my esophogus. So, I tried deviled eggs today and discovered that the whites are what causes the discomfort. Why in the world should that be? You'd think it would be the yolk that would be causing the problem.
And here I thought I was the only one having resturaunt issues! lol I stopped a local McDonald's while I was shopping with a friend. I wasn't hungry but it was lunch time for the kids. So instead of food I ordered a small unsweetened iced tea. Now I am a Southerner so most of us would bleed sweet tea in the summer. The kid behind the counter tried his best to sell me the 32 oz. sweet tea but I stuck to my guns. Then I went to the beverage bar and there wasn't any there! Luckily there was some behind the counter. I could see the manager looking at me as if I had grown another head lol. I think the only reason they let me keep my "Dixie card" was I sweetened it with Splenda.
