I just realized I'm 6 days late too! ARgh, probably our diets. I had my period 3 days after coming out ot the hospital and this would have been next!

I'm 7 days late so dont feel bad. I think after major surgery our bodies take awhile to get back to normal. I do think that I am retaining water and it could very well just be because my darn period is supposed to come one of these days. Kerri

Thanks for letting me know that I am not alone! I had a VERY light and short period right after surgery, so I expect this one will be a doosy when it does show it's ugly face....actually, I could care if it ever comes back...I just don't want to keep feeling like it is coming any minute, then it is a no show....anyway...thanks again for your in put...as usual, it always helps! i just FINALLY got mine, today. i was more than a week overdue, and (impatiently) waiting for it to stop so i could start using the nuvaring birth control. i think it's the stress of major surgery that delays us a bit, maybe?

whoops i meant start! it's funny i said to a co-worker "i must be getting ready to start, i'm craving chocolate like a mofo" this morning, and sure enough right after lunch i had started. i satisfied my craving with a sugar-free turtle.

Lucky girl - I got my period after not having it for 3 months ("perimenapause") I was hoping I was done. Now I am about middle of cycle and PMSing already! My poor DH! Jan D.

I am in that "special" peri-menopause business, too, and generally have a period every three months. I had one in February so I figured I was A-OK for the surgery in March. WRONG! I got another period 5 days before my surgery. Fortunately, it was done by the day before. *Whew* I think one reason our periods get funny after the surgery is a combination of the surgery itself as well as a very fat restricted diet. Estrogen is a fat-dependent hormone, and if you don't take in enough of it, it can mess up your cycles, kind of like a runner with a very low body fat percentage. I don't know about anyone else, but bloated usually means one's right around the corner. Yuck!

Unfortunately I got mine the day I went in for surgery.. yuk!! and mine was 5 days late this month... I just started yesterday and boy is it a bad one!! I think it is normal after going through major surgery for it to screw with our periods a bit. Bonnie
