Actually, two weeks and two days. My surgeon had to look at my chart twice 'cause he thought I was SIX WEEKS out. lol..I am down 22 pounds, I can start moving into a blended diet! I am still on restrictions for work. Went back to work 9 days out, did fine on my weekend job-but my weekday job wouldn't work me within my restrictions. Doc re-wrote the restrictions and said, "well try again-if they won't follow the rules, go back home." Easy for him to say, he doesn't have to worry about losing his job! Maybe I can just figure out a way to do the job that doesn't hurt too much. (There is a lot of bending, stooping and lifting things off the floor. Generally I feel great but after 5 hours of that last Monday, I was back to the pain meds!) Good luck to all!

Congrats on 22 lbs gone! That is AWESOME!!! Take it easy at work. Last thing you want to do is get a hernia by lifting something too heavy, which can happen easily within the first four weeks of surgery. So take it slow and easy at work. (if you can that is). Keep up the good work, and enjoy the new phase of your diet!

Just wanted to let you know that every job has to honor the Family Medical Leave Act... you can take up to 120 days without being fired from your job. And they have to allow you to come back at the same pay you left at...... and YES dont risk a hernia

Congratulations! I wish I could say that I was down that much. I had surgery the same day, and am down a total of 19 pounds, but had lost 6 before surgery. My Dr. thinks I'm doing great, and overall I agree. I'm in the thick liquid phase, so just got to add an egg and/or cottage cheese to the menu. I thought I would be elated, but it takes so long to eat I seem to lose interest. I keep pluggin away at it though to be sure I get in my max amount of protein. Hang in there and keep up the great work!
