Help! No loss in 6 days!?!
I am going crazy here! I lost 25 pounds in my first 27 days, but nothing in the past 6 days, what am I doing wrong??? Ok, I make sure to walk and lift weights on alternate days, AT LEAST 1/2 hour per day, I am at about 60 ounces of water per day, and 1 8 oz protein shake. I have been on solids for a week, but the most solid thing I have eaten is salad. I can only seem to get in about 1-1 1/2 cups of food total per day. Some have told me that this is not enough, but I thought I was supposed to stop when I got full!?! Generally, I eat things like applesauce, cottage cheese, tuna, egg salad, vienna sausages ( I have had 5 since surgery, I can only eat about 1 - 1 1/2 before I am full) I guess I should see it as I have lost 1/4 of the overall weight I want to lose total in the first month, and I have lost 27 3/4 inches overall, but I can't seem to get by the fact that I am stuck at -25! I'm not ready for it to stop working now! Any advice for me??
Thank you, you are all wonderful!!!
Nina
if you're lifting weights, you're probably building muscle mass at the same time as you're burning fat. if you're losing inches, then you're still getting smaller, just not lighter at the moment. plus i've read that it's very common for us to plateau around 3 weeks, i think the body needs a little time to catch up. i feel like a snail over here, i've only lost 17 lbs. in 13 days and have only lost 1 lb. since friday, but i'm trying not to harp on it.
the best advice i've heard is just to drink lots of water (not calorie free liquids--plain old water) and get in lots of protein. sounds like you've got the water down pat, but you might want to try upping your protein intake.
don't freak out too bad! i know some days i wake up and just want to get on the scale and see a big difference. i still get on the scale, but i try not to get my hopes up, then i'll be surprised when i do lose, hehe.

Be very careful with salad. Raw veggies are a pretty tough thing for your tiny tummy to digest.
27 3/4 inches in a month is AMAZING!!!! Keep up the good work!
If you read some of the other posts, you will find there is a plateau a few weeks out. I think it's just our bodies bringing us back down to earth with a healthy dose of reality. If you keep doing what you're doing, you should see the weight loss pick back up again. It sounds like the plateau lasts about 1-2 weeks.
Congrats on the 25 pounds gone forever!
It is definitely normal for you to have a period where your not losing anything. I have been going through that for about 2 weeks now! Don't get discouraged and believe me, you will start losing again... your body is in shock right now and every once in awhile your body will go through plataeus. Give yourself a pat on the back for 25 pounds, thats awesome

32 pounds lost so far!!
Don't freak out!!
Same thing happened to me! I lost gangbusters my first 2 1/2 weeks then NOTHING then I GAINED 5 lbs then I lost that and then NOTHING for a week. Then FINALLY it comes off.
Your body is in SHOCK that it lost 25 lbs so quickly. It's trying to adjust and protect itself. Don't panic about how much food you are getting in. You are not going to STOP losing! Your body is just adjusting. Scale will move soon.
DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK!!
My advice, stop weighing yourself! My nutritionist said that after a big loss the body will stop losing, do a body check to make sure eveything is working ok and then you will start to lose again. This process happens over and over again. I don't weigh myself at all. I got weighed 2 weeks post op and will probably not get weighed again until I either see my primary or the surgeon in July. I figure I can't gain so why stress over it, besides my clothes are getting bigger on me, so I am happy. Do what you are suppose to do and hang in there. Good Luck!
Good post! I have to agree. Don't be a slave to the scales or you will ride an emotional roller coaster for your entire trip! I only weigh at my surgeon's office and refuse to look at the scales at home. I'm wearing clothes that I haven't worn in years (and wonder why I didn't get rid of them then) and I know my neck has gone down 2 full inches in 2.5 weeks.
It's a long ride to be monitoring your weight everyday. Almost like the kid in the backseat screaming "are we there yet" when you've just left the driveway for a 9 hour ride! Why put yourself through the pain and frustration? Enjoy the ride because unless you screw up and don't follow the instructions, you ARE going to lose a lot of weight!

Thanks for this post. I was weighing everday too and on Tuesday weighed 295- then Wednesday and today I am at 298- 3 lb gain. I will be 3 weeks out tommorrow and am down from 324 to 298 so I am very happy with my loss so far but I was seeing loss everyday and it was exciting. I will wait a few more days to weigh again! Good luck to everyone. I am really enjoying this board for the March surgeries. Nice to know what others like me are eatting and how they (you) are feeling.
Well, my 1/2 day of work is finally over so I am headed home- thank God I am not working full days for a few more weeks. I need a nap!
