Phlebitis

Hi, I had my surgery on April 1st and everything went wonderful. Last Saturday I woke up with a hot, red, hard lump on my leg which turned out to be a superficial thrombosis, which is a blood clot in my varicose vein. Not life-threatening. The Dr. is not concerned. They gave me an antibiotic and sent me home. My question is how long does this last? The antibiotic is bringing down the swelling but I am still very tender. I apply hot compresses to it and continue to walk about a 1/2 mile a day. Any one know anything about these? Jackie

Call your doctor and ask. Even if it's midnight. You "paid" enough for your surgery and they are on call for a reason. Seems like a mild-treatment for a blood clot! Keep walking - that is GOOD for your blood!!
