dumping on string cheese?

it doesn't make a lot of sense to me, a 1 oz serving of string cheese has 80 cals, 6g of fat, 3.5g sat fat, 0g sugar, and most importantly 8g of protein. but it's the only thing i've had today besides water and a protein shake. i ate it very slowly, peeling off little strips and chewing them to mush, but about 20 minutes after i ate it, i got gut cramps and then felt like i was going to puke. (thankfully i didn't) i have been a good girl and avoided sugar, and haven't had anything make me hurl yet, so this troubled me. is there too much fat in it? i've had things with more fat than that and not had a problem... :::baffled::: michelle

May be it's the milk??I know some times I get sick on some thing and try it the next day and it's fine so who knows ... good luck.. Shelly -41

thanks, i didn't think about that. might have been, i've been using soymilk in my protein shakes so it's feasible i wouldn't notice until now. i was intolerant as a small child, and have always been sensitive to it since (large amounts made me sick) so it figures that it would get worse after surgery, lol...

Michelle.. Could you possibly be lactose intolerant? Just a thought.. Becky

i was mildy intolerant (i guess lactose sensitive would be the word?) before surgery so it would make sense. never had a problem with string cheese, but if i drank a lot of milk or had more than 1-2 servings of dairy in a day, i paid for it in gastrointestinal discomfort. my son is the same way. thanks, i totally forgot about that! guess i'll have to watch it. there goes another good source of protein if that is the case... maybe it was just a fluke and i'll be fine. :::crosses fingers:::

Michelle, Hey girl, How are you doing. I emailed you from your profile, but I don't know if you are getting them. I wanted to ask you some question about some of the protien shakes you have tried, and where I can find them? Do you get them from the BX on Maxwell? Please let me know. God Bless, Angel A

I didn't really find anything I liked at the BX, I tried Isopure (got it at GNC) but it was too strong for my tastes. Most of what I like I order from the internet, I don't know of any places other than GNC in Montgomery that sell protein drinks. I ordered all my samples (except Unjury) from http://www.bariatriceating.com, they have a sample pack that has a bunch of kinds you can try. Hope that helps!

Hi Michelle, I have become lactose intolerant and it make sme dump more than anything else! I tried some things to start (even yogurt) and it put mein bed for 2 days! You know I miss dairy something TERRIBLE but NOTHING is worth the feeling I get when I eat it! Trust you don't have to feel that way again! JK

i really hope i'm not completely intolerant, i think i'll try a little more later just to make sure. if it happens again, i'll be disappointed, but i guess i'll deal, hehe. yogurt oddly enough hasn't bothered me, but it never did before either. thanks though, it's always a good feeling just to know you're not the only one.

Who knows?! I've experienced the "what's good for me one day isn't good the next" and there's no rhyme or reason to it. Go figure! You'd think cheese would be safe, but who knows. Maybe after the protein shakes there was too much "milk" in your system.
