I am 5 weeks out and am at the pureed stage also. Next week I get to even further advance my diet. I can have chicken, fish, ham, but they have to be chopped up. Made the mistake the other night and had KFC chicken and didn't chew throughly, well, then spent a little time in the bathroom chucking it back up. I would kill to have meatloaf and roast, but can not have any red meat until I am almost 1 year out! I am also craving chili from Steak and Shake. Did eat half of the Cheesy Fiesta Potatos from Taco Bell, they sounded and tasted so good!!! Also had a 4-piece nuggets from Chic-fila. They were just the right sized, but the coating needed to be removed. Chic-fila's diet lemonade is terrible though! I would listen to the dietician as to what you can and can't eat. Doctors don't always know what goes on behind the scenes with their bariatric patients. I love my doctor, but I go with what the dietician says. Heck, my doctor told me I had no restrictions at 2 1/2 wks post-op, but the nurse said 25 pounds restriction. As of yesterday I have lost 45 pounds.

Hi Rechelle. Congrats on the 15 pounds gone forever! I go for my 2 1/2 week check up tomorrow, where I will get the official clearance to go to pureed foods. The nutritionist told me yesterday it would probably be OK to try some things, so tonight I had some oatmeal mixed with scrambled egg beaters. I pureed them together and added some salt and Molly McButter. I was able to eat about 2/3 of it, very slowly without any problems. I've been a little nervous about eating real food. I am a vegetarian, and some of the vegetarian "meat" sources are pretty high in protein. My only concern is pureeing them well enough so they won't cause a problem.

Hello Rechelle; I am still on the thin stuff. I have been on it since I left the hospital on the 2nd of April. I have eaten oats, cream of wheat, soupy mashed potatoes, yogurt, pudding, jello, creamed soups (strained), etc. This Sat. I will be able to eat the pureed foods. Which to me is good because it will be something different. I will still be on a !/2 cup of food at a time though. I am following my dieticians orders but I still crave certain foods but will force myself to wait until the doc says so. I have lost 9 lbs so far but will find out on the 26th if I will have lost more. Keep your chin up and keep plugging along. I with you all the way. Are you taking in 48 to 64 oz. a day and 60 to 80 grams of protein aday? That is what I am supposed to have. Melinda

I had surgery 3-22 also.. I puree anything. I had a slice of french toast this am. Pureed it with sugar free syrup. I have pureed a whopper without the bun. Yesterday I had a pureed smoked sausage and pureed potato salad. I puree soup and add extra meat for protein. I am not tolerating protein powder, so I add extra meat. Today I had chicken pureed in gravy over mashed potatoes. Luckily I got recipes from my dietician. 2 weeks more of pureed then soft for 1 week.
