Can anyone tell me when we can drink diet drinks? The only thing I have had is water and I really need something else to drink. I can't drink Crystal Light because it is so sweet. Since I have had surgery I can't stand anything too sweet . It makes me sick to my stomach. Is there any kind of juices we can drink at 4 week post -op and what can of fruit can we have? Thansk to everyone for their help with this. Donna

Hi Donna! About the diet drinks....I heard that usually six months or so after WLS you can start drinking them again. Just be careful I've heard the carbonation can really hurt! My Dr. allowed me to have white grape juice cut with water 50/50 when I was still in the hospital, now I can drink it full strength but I still choose to cut it because its too sweet. Good luck on your weight loss journey! Sherry

HI Donna, My Doc says no carbinated drinks for 6months - 1year! Have you tried SF koolAide? I take both KoolAide and Crystal light and add extra water so it won't be quite so sweet. Tropicana has a new SF orange drink and a lemon Aide that is pretty good also. You just have to keep trying until you find what works for you. I find something works for about a week, then I tire of it and move on to something new for a while. Good luck Donna, the drink thing is SO huge that I hope you find something that works GREAT for you!! JK

Donna, You can try cranberry juice mixed 50/50 with water or the light version. Also, decaf tea with splenda is good. Susie

Diet V8 Splash is awsome in my book...I drink a glass every morning with a scoop of Any Whey protein in it...I drink it later in the day without the protein...I have to keep yelling at my 8 yr old to stay out of it!!!! Hope you find something to quench your thirst!!! Michelle

For myself I really like Isopure, the protein drink. I can't drink any of the flavored waters for some reason, but Isopure i really love. They have all kinds of flavors. If you go to any of your nutrition stores where you live, i can almost bet that they would have it.

Donna, have you tried the "Diet Ice" drinks? There is a huge variety of them. I've seen them at Walgreens and its something my docs nurse suggested. I've been LOVING apple juice. It is so easy on my stomach. Grape juice HURT my stomach. Make sure there is no pineapple juice in anything. I found a 100% juicy juice that looked good, but it hurt and I later looked at the label and it had pineapple juice in it! It didn't even sound good. God bless, Heidi

Hi Donna, I am allowed to have propel flavored water, diet juices like diet oceanspray, diet snapple, diet arizona iced tea... it's a nice variety if you feel like having something other than water. My doctor doesnt want me to have anything carbonated at all and suggests that I dont have anything over 10 grams of sugar in it. I hope you are able to find something you like! Good luck to you Bonnie

If the Crystal Light is too sweet, try diluting it more than they say. Add an extra cup of water and that should cut the sweetness. You might also try adding Crystal Light to decaffeinated unsweetened iced tea. That may help as well. Good luck!
