My turn to be sad!

OK, today is my 1 month and I have not lost any weight for 7 days! I am so sad and don't know what else to do! I am eating as much protein as I can, I am working out 40 minutes a day 5x per week (l.5 miles) on my ellipse, and I am drinking, drinking and then....drinking some more! I guess I am feeling like I am not sure what I should do different....You know the feeling, like I am the only one that this is not going to work for! feeling like I read the people who are not excercising at all and eating thier protein and not worrying about Calories! I know that 25pds in a month is good compared to most "diets" but it is not great for WLS! Anyway, I am not sorry I had the surgery because I would actually be gaining weight.....just feeling like I can't believe I am letting myself get down. I had set some goals for after the first 2 weeks that I did not think were unrealistic (3 pds\wk) and I can't even attain that! I did better than that on South Beach and Weigh****chers, I just could never keep it off. Anyway....Thanks to all of you who have posted you frustrations and for lettting this be a place where we can vent! I sooooo don't want to fail....And my awesome hubby....I want him to benefit from this as well (me looking and feeling good!) because he has been one of my biggest cheerleaders! Never a negative word from him, never a question to what I am doing and always there to help me if I need it! I feel great & back to normal in every way...wondering if I have already stretched my pouch??? Thanks for the venting session....I do appreciate you all!!! Trust you are having a good day. JK

Hi JK! Congrats on your weight loss I do know how you feel though, I am 5 weeks out today and for the past week haven't lost a pound until today. I went to see my Doc 4/7 and he told me it was natural to hit a plateau around this time, something to do with your body adjusting, gettin rehydrated those kinds of things. Don't get discouraged! You aren't alone. I lost the bulk of my 32 lbs loss my first 2 1/2 weeks. Then I gained 5 lbs, then I lost that 5 lbs gained then I haven't lost anything in over a week. I am VERY frustrated, but people tell me it's normal. I'm like, I don't care if it's normal or not. I expect a CONTINUOUS loss after WLS. But people say that it's normal and not to freak out. You have NOT stretched out your pouch. It takes MONTHS to do that. I worried about that too myself. But pouch is still small. Hang in there. You aren't alone. Don't weigh yourself daily. Take measurements of your body so you can see losses even when the scale doesn't budge. Don't give up. Hang in there!

Hi Jodie, Sorry to hear your sad. I think we all go through this, I have been feeling the same way. I'm down 15 lbs but the scale hasn't moved in 3 days and I'm panicking. I start to think this isn't going to work etc. I think this happens to most people. Hang in there I'm sure the scale will start moving again. Take care, and I love your name Jodi S.

Wow! Our profiles are so much alike. I am 33 and had a 39 BMI as well. I had a great experience and lost 15 the first week, but the scale hasn't budged since. I am so worried! I hope this really is just one of those things. I think it surely has to do with introducing foods after nothing solid for over a week. I hope to see more from you soon. It will be interesting to compare. Congrats! Cheri

Cheryl, Thats to funny. I couldn't read your profile since you dont have one... You should update. I would love to keep in touch, so like you said we can see what the other is doing and what is working or not working etc. I had major problems with egg yesterday. It would just get stuck. Kind of happened today on a baked potato with chili. I think I may be chewing to fast and probably eating to fast as well... I need to slow it down. I havn't been excercising like I need to either. I dont know about you but I have having issues with my bowel and I have to stay close to potty... Well keep in touch, and congrats on your weightloss so for. Hugs, Jodi

I thought that I had done a profile, but I probably didn't do it right. I just hope that all we are going through is normal. I have only felt sick one time. So far, nothing bothers me. I am not sure that is a good thing. I haven't started exercising either. I am hoping to start a program next week. Talk to you soon! Cheri

Hi Jodie My husband and I went to the nutritionist today for our 4 week and 2 week visits, respective. My husband has not lost an weight in over a week after losing about 45 in the first 4 weeks. The nutritionist said it may be because he is not taking in enough protein. The body needs protein for energy, and he said to increase the protein and the weight should start to come off again. Good luck, and hang in there!
