Hi everyone! I had my surgery Mar. 28, my Dr. is keeping me on liquids for 2 weeks. I can have an egg on Mon. Apr.11 I can't wait. I'm a little nervous that I can hold too much food because I can eat a whole container of jello. This worries me, but I've decided that i won't finish any more of them. It's hard because I'm sooo hungry. I thought I would get over trhis hunger issue already. Does the being hungry thing get better when on solids?

I can eat about 1/3 cup of very wet pureed food. Don't worry about jello it is considered a liquid and slips through real easy. Jan B

When I was on the liquid phase, I too was worried about my pouch being big but then I started soft food. That first egg took a long time to get in and now it depends on the food. Say for example 2 oz of yogurt is lighter than 2 oz of tuna. I can eat 2 oz of yogurt no problem I think I can even eat 4 oz but tuna I can only eat 1.5 oz. As far as being hungry, when I went back to the dr for 2 wk appt. I said something to the nurse along with another woman who said she was hungry and the nurse said no it is not hunger, you are not hungry. I took that as it is a mental thing. Like we think we are suppose to be eating and we feel something that feels like hunger. But I don't know it felt like hunger pains but I haven't had it since I started solids.I have a whole new thing going on. Well don't worry, we do the best we can. Kelly

I can eat just about a 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese, yogurt, pureed meats, refried beans etc. I tried a scrambled egg and it came right back up. My doctor said a lot of people have problems with the egg at first. Just chew it super well. Maybe add a little ketchup or salsa to wetten it up. Good luck. Tracey

My surgery was the 28th also. I have gotten up to 1/2 cup without discomfort, but it takes about an hour. I have to stop halfway and settle a little. I guess that is part of the training to eat slower. Today I had split pea soup at Big Boy's. Yum. It got so I could not get in the jello in hardly any amount. I ate a soft egg today, no problem. I am feeling what could be thought of as hunger pangs. I think it is my big useless tummy shrinking. I took it as a good sign.

It all depends on texture and how my tummy handles it, but I can eat about 1/2 cup of food at a sitting and I eat about 3 or 4 times a day. B- Protein Shake S- Apple Sauce L- Soup At Hand S- Genny's Soy Chips D- Boiled Chicken with some Mayo-Mustard dip (yeah, yeah, I know) Something like that on average. Some days less, some days, I need to get in another protein shake cuz I know I didn't get enough.

Don't panic. I worried about the same thing too post-op. You are able to get more oz of liquid in vs. food because liquid basically goes right through you - it doesn't stay in the pouch long. Once you get to food, you won't be able to eat a cup at a time for a long while! Also, I never felt hungry while on liquids. But this past week or so being on soft foods, I get the hungry feel every now and then. But it's amazing. Just a bite or two of something will make the hunger go away. I love it!
