HI ALL! I AM 16 DAYS POST OP AND FEELING GREAT (EXCEPT FROM RECOVERING FROM A SINUS INFECTION AND BRONCHITIS!) I AM STILL ON MY SOFT FOOD DIET...CAN START MORE SOLID FOODS ON 4-8-05. I AM LOVING TACO BELLS PINTOS AND CHEESE AND HOT AND SOUR SOUP! YUMMY! I AM DOWN 22LBS...CRAZY RIGHT? THIS MORNING WAS THE FIRST MORNING I HAVE NOTICED A DIFFERENCE IN THE MIRROR. I HAVE NOT BEEN AT THIS WEIGHT FOR 2 1/2 YEARS. DO YOU GUYS EVER THINK THAT THE SURGERY WON'T WORK? LIKE I HAVE FAILED AT EVERY DIET I HAVE EVER BEEN ON AND NOW I WORRY SOMETIMES THAT I WON'T LOSE THE WEIGHT. I KNOW IT SOUNDS STRANGE....BUT STILL. I HAVE READ ALL YOUR POSTS ABOUT MEASURING AND INCHES AND ALL THAT...AND I SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT TOO. I DID TAKE A BEFORE PICTURE WHICH I AM WAITING TO DEVELOP. HAVE YOU ALL NOTICED THAT YOU AVOIDED PICTURES? I KNOW I DID....HATED MY PICTURE TAKEN! WELL TAKE CARE ALL, HEALTH AND HAPPINESS FOR EVERYBODY, AIKO

Congrats on your success so far!! Yay! All my before pics are from the shoulders up. Now, I'm having full body shots taken so I can compare them. In looking in the mirror, I can't see a change in my face, but my EYES look bigger. Guess there's less bloat around them. A couple weeks post-op I didnt' lose for a few days and I thought, OMG, this surgery didn't work for me. What am I doing wrong, etc? But I realized (through help on this board) that that is normal and we all have days where we don't lose (which is why we shouldn't weigh daily). But I have had thoughts - like what if I lose 50 lbs easy but then the rest is hard or whatever. But I stop thinking like that. I'm positive. No use wasting my energy on worrying about the future. Start taking your measurements now. I also forgot pre-op, but I did it a week post-op and have been doing them weekly.

Aiko, Congrats on your success so far. it is difficult to keep a positive attitude when it has been so hard to lose weight in the past. I am trying to keep a positive attitude and although only losing 50 or so pounds wouldnt make me happy necessarily I know that 50 pounds would be more than Ive ever been able to lose on the past. It seems like a lot to go through for just a few pounds so surely the Dr's wouldnt do this to us if we didn't have the capability of being successful. Just remember to follow the Dr's instructions and I'm sure you will do well!! Keep up the good work!! Carla

Hi Aiko, Congrats on the pounds lost! I'm almost four weeks out, and have lost 21 pounds. It seems to leave in clumps. Nothing for several days, then 3 or 4 at a time. I have often thought that I am going to be the one that this surgery doesn't work for! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. This week will be my one month post-op, so I'll take measurements then. I'm curious to see how many inches I've lost. I've noticed my jeans are looser, which is great. I used to wear sweat pants all the time, but this week I've been wearing jeans again. Take care - Debbie
